The current MSI event’s first round went exactly how most expected, with BLG and G2 winning their respective matches, though the two wins came in very different fashion. Hans Sama and Labrov continue to show up big in every match. Labrov’s preference for picking tanky supports, often those with pulls or other initiation abilities, works well for the aggressive Hans Sama. The team’s jungler will want to step up his objective acquisition game, since prioritizing kills like he did against Furia may end poorly versus BLG. On the other hand, Caps may want to play more passively, considering BLG mid laner Knight has a history of snowballing into a dangerous carry for BLG.
Speaking of Knight, he continues to deliver in every game he plays, with constant pressure into his lane opponent and quick support for objective acquisition whenever required. Bin sometimes plays too passively in the laning phase, but he makes up for it with his picks’ tankiness being key for team fights and lane pressuring.
Elk and ON have excellent bot lane chemistry, even when ON picks a mage support like Karma. Elk knows when to be aggressive and when to back out, which is why the player’s presence and K/D are both frequently high. Then there’s Beichuan. Often brought up in conversations revolving around the best League of Legends junglers, Beichuan is proficient in sneaking away with jungle objectives and camps to get a good advantage for his team. The player’s most prominent weakness is his tendency to die a lot, which G2 will want to capitalize on at the right time to then create plays in his absence.

While G2’s tendency to be more aggressive in the early game to get kills and gain a strong gold advantage while sacrificing early objectives is good, the team will want to tweak it and play more safely against a strong team like BLG. Giving BLG enough early objectives will likely snowball into a definitive victory for the LPL representative.
