This year’s Esports World Cup is running at full blast, and the League of Legends tournament is arguably the most anticipated of them all. With multiple top teams fighting for a chance to win, those who haven’t qualified for the playoffs yet must get through the bracket stage. Furia and G2 Esports are two teams that will meet during this stage, and both have a recent history of underperforming.
Betting tip: G2 Esports may have won the last time the two teams met, but Furia’s improved international experience and aggressive playing style may nab the victory.
Furia is in a strange position currently. Although the team dominated matches against most LTA South teams in the recent split, it struggles in international tournaments. A good example of this is what happened in the recent MSI, where the team struggled to win a single match. The last game, in particular, saw the entire team practically throw away victory, whether it was Tutsz going 1/5/1, or Ayu playing Ziggs and barely finding a single kill.
This isn’t to say Furia is a bad team. Despite not having many achievements under its belt, Furia’s Tatu and Ayu are both usually standout players. JoJo’s support play is hit or miss, but Guigo is reliable enough to win his lanes without feeding the enemy. While the team likely doesn’t have much of a chance against top-ranked League of Legends teams like Gen.G and T1, it should be a fair match for a team like G2 Esports.

Speaking of G2, the team was knocked out of the recent MSI bracket stage without winning a single match. While its performance in the play-in stage was decent enough to ensure it qualified for the next stage, the team’s overall play still left much to be desired, and its wins were seemingly had because the enemy teams were just performing relatively worse. It wouldn’t be farfetched to say that Caps and SkewMond’s mid and jungle synergy is why the team gets as far as it does, and even that has been in question of late.
Hans Sama is an excellent ADC with high carry potential. Unfortunately, he’s usually held back by his support Labrov, who is unable to properly initiate fights. BrokenBlade is also an infamously unreliable player who tends to take unnecessary fights. His team usually pays the price for his poor decision-making, since the enemy’s top laner’s initial gold advantage snowballs into an issue for everyone in G2.

G2 Esports and Furia have faced off only once before, primarily thanks to Furia’s lack of relative international exposure. G2 walked away with a win in that match at MSI.
Furia may have dominated most of its matches in the recent LTA South split, but the team struggled through two close losses at MSI.
G2 Esports was completely outmatched in the recent MSI bracket stage, dominated by both FlyQuest and Gen.G even if its performance in the play-in stage was good enough to advance.

Furia gained valuable international experience at MSI, where it first seemed significantly outmatched. Furia gave G2 Esports a run for its money there. The team was primarily held back by the fearless draft system and difficulty finding good picks late in a series. Luckily for the team, this match doesn’t have that issue considering it’s a best-of-one battle. With Furia’s strong initial playing style and G2’s habit of trying to take the match to the end game, Furia has a good chance of getting a big advantage against G2 at the start and then snowballing it into an easier victory.
Our Furia vs G2 Esports pick: Furia as the match winner at 2.63 odds at GG.BET.
