FunPlus Phoenix to miss Masters Reykjavik amid Russo-Ukraine War

FunPlus Phoenix’s Valorant team will miss out on competing at the VCT Masters Reykjavik 2022.

Travel restrictions in Russia and Ukraine amid the ongoing war, as well as COVID-19 regulations, played a major role in FPX’s inability to attend the Masters.

Despite Riot’s best efforts, a suitable solution was nowhere to be found that allowed FPX to field their complete roster in Reykjavik.

To ensure ‘fairness’ to other participating teams, Riot decided to give FPX’s slot to Team Liquid to participate at Masters Reykjavik as representatives of the EMEA region.

Riot will now evaluate how to recognize FPX’s achievement with VCT points and a portion of the prize pool.
