Fans of arena shooters would be delighted to know that the Fragpunk release date is closer than they may think.
Plenty of 5v5 shooters in the market compete for players’ attention and time. From Concord to Valorant and from Valve’s unannounced Deadlock to Marvel Rivals, fans of the genre have plenty to choose from. Fragpunk, an arena shooter from Bad Guitar Studio, has its work cut out for it. Fragpunk recently held a closed alpha playtest from June 27 to July 1. The Alpha gave fans the first taste of the game’s unique card-based system.
Players who took part in the Fragpunk alpha generally had favorable opinions about the game, further hyping its upcoming release date.
The Fragpunk release date is set for 2025, with no specific date announced.
The Fragpunk Alpha provided a relatively polished experience, indicating that Bad Guitar Studios is nearing the finish line. However, the studio has not announced a concrete release date or a window for the card-based arena shooter.
Fragpunk has a unique shard card system that sets it apart from other 5v5 shooters vying for players’ attention. The card system introduces roguelite elements to the shooter, making each round unique. Cards can change how a round plays, from increasing jump height to changing bullet damage type to fire. There are a lot of possibilities in Fragpunk for players to discover once the release date finally rolls around.
Fragpunk will be released on PC and Xbox Series X and S and will be a free-to-play title on both platforms, but a PS5 version is not confirmed.
The game can only be wishlisted on Steam and Xbox Store with no editions, pre-order bonuses, or in-game currency purchases announced. 10 heroes are announced for the game, each with unique abilities. The game will also offer 15 guns at launch, some with special abilities.
Fragpunk will also be available on Xbox Game Pass. The Fragpunk Steam page has in-game footage and trailers that give a detailed look at the game. The PC requirements are not high, so many players will be able to run the game without issues. The developers of Fragpunk haven’t announced a PlayStation version of the game yet, but it could release sometime after the initial release date.
