Fortnite Reload is one of the newer game modes in the game, and its unique qualities have proven inviting to players who continue coming back to it. Fortnite released Reload in June 2024 as a new mode for the game. Here’s everything explained about Fortnite Reload.
With millions of players online at any given time, Fortnite is one of the most popular games on the internet, and that’s for good reason. The game is constantly innovating, keeping the game from dying, with new modes like Fortnite OG and Lego as well as collaborations with notable IPs like Marvel and Star Wars. Players always have something new to try or buy.
Fortnite Reload is a special game mode in which players can be revived so long as one member of their team is still alive.
Unlike in the main Fortnite battle royale mode, the Reload mode consists of 40 players and 10 different squads. The ultimate goal is to to get one or multiple players from a single team to be the last player or players standing. Also unique to Reload, players have a timed respawn available to them so long as at least one member of their squad is still alive. The timer starts at 30 seconds but increases as the match continues, and players can reduce the timer by wiping out other squads.

One of the keys to surviving in this game mode is to gear up quickly. Fortnite Reload has specific high-tier loot locations filled with valuable in-game items, and these spots can become hot spots for conflict between competing teams. This version of the game highly favors strong teamwork and coordination. Players must communicate with the other members of their squad to achieve success, otherwise they’re sure to be overwhelmed by the opposition.
At a certain point near the end of the battle royale, players lose the ability to reload and respawn. From there on, it comes down to the last surviving players to carry their team to a final victory.
Fortnite Reload has a number of set maps in its rotation that require players to think about the game strategically.
Maps in Fortnite Reload are smaller than the main battle royale map, though they still containing some major landmarks. The smaller map increases the frequency of encounters with other players and leads to quick-paced action. Additionally, the three maps currently in rotation change every 20 minutes to add variety to hot pace of the game mode. This can be compared to the new and rotating seasons in regular Fortnite, which swap out every few months.
The current schedule for a given hour of Fortnite Reload is as follows:
Venture is also known as the original Fortnite Reload map, and is based around the game’s OG season. The map was designed to feature favorite locations from Season 1 and has 9 POIs, including the famed Tilted Towers and Lil Loot Lake.

The Slurpworks stands out as a place to get tons of reliable healing loot, while the Dirty Docks area forces close-quarters combat. Slurp Rush also allows players to use vehicles on the map.
Squid Grounds is the latest Reload map to hit the game and is part of Fortnite’s collaboration with Squid Games. Unlike other maps, this brings in brand-new POIs inspired by the hit television show Squid Game. Examples include Square Meals, a location with restaurant-themed challenges, and The Labyrinth, with its confusing staircase maze.
