With new cosmetics coming to the game all the time, Fortnite sometimes releases redeem codes to give players free batches of those cosmetics. All you have to do is know where to get those codes, how they work, and how to use them, and our guide can help you with all three.
Epic Games’ Fortnite is one of the most popular multiplayer video games out there, with over one million players online at any given time. The game is known for its endlessly replayable battle royale gameplay, rotating game modes, and the prominence of famous content creators in and around the game. Fortnite also offers an ever-changing and often themed selection of new and fun cosmetics for players to choose from. These include everything from back bling to in-game emotes and outfits, some of which can cost a hefty number of V-bucks. Fortunately for Fortnite players, there’s a way to get select cosmetic items for free with the right timing and the right codes.
Fortnite doesn’t often release redeem codes. But when it does, players can look forward to unlocking exclusive cosmetics that they don’t have to grind for or break the bank for.
Fortnite redeem codes are special codes that allow players to unlock complimentary cosmetics for use in the game.
Fortnite redeem codes are similar to a voucher or coupon in that they grant a player a specific item related to that unique code. These items can range in rarity and exclusivity as well. Often, the given item is focused around a specific theme, or partnered media property, or a celebrity that is being featured in the game. Past items unlocked by redeem codes have included the Nanner Ringer emote, the Batarang pickaxe, the Harley Quinn back bling, and V-bucks.

Players can redeem a Fortnite code directly through the game’s official website, provided they have a registered account and are logged into it appropriately.
There are two separate areas on the Fortnite website through which players can a redeem code, which might be confusing for some. One redemption opportunity is set up for items, and one is separately established for V-bucks. Both require the user to have an active Epic Games account and to be logged into that account. For regular items, players can navigate directly to the redeem screen or go through their account to redeem a code. Once there, they can simply enter the relevant access code and the item will be added directly to their Fortnite inventory.

When redeeming V-bucks cards, players have to go to a different page and enter an access code there. It’s important to note that for each code, whether it’s used for cosmetics or for V-bucks, can only be redeemed once per unique account. This means no unlocking multiple instances of the same emote, and you can’t use the same code to produce unlimited vbucks.
Fortnite doesn’t have a set schedule for releasing redeem codes, so interested players have to pay special attention in watching out for those opportunities when they do arise.
Epic Games tends to announce any new codes through its established social media accounts. Because these codes are only valid for a limited window of time, or good for a set number of uses, players who really want free Fortnite items will need to keep a sharp eye on these accounts at all times. This may seem tedious, as redeem codes aren’t released very often for Fortnite so there can be a long way between instances, but it can be worth it when it pays off in the form of new and free cosmetics.
For a little real-world cash, players can buy also purchase redeem codes that can be exchanged V-bucks either online or in stores in the form of a physical card. These cards are supported on all of the same major platforms that run Fortnite and allow the player to then buy whichever items in the shop their heart desires. While not free, V-bucks cards let players gain access to items much more quickly than if they were to rely on grinding for them, and some cases might be the only means available for a player to purchase something. V-bucks can also be purchased through the Fortnite in-game shop, for players who want to circumvent the need to input a special code entirely, simplifying the process.
Fortnite codes are few and far between, so players should keep an eye out for them whenever they appear and should equally be quick to redeem them and take advantage of the in-game rewards the provide. With all of the various media properties Epic Games partners with for Fortnite, from Dragon Ball to Superman and everything between, there’s no telling what new cosmetic goodies might be waiting for players with the next big drop.
