All Fortnite Medallions in the Current Season

In Chapter 5 Season 1, Epic Games introduced Fortnite medallions. This is one of the single most impactful choices the developer has ever made.
All Fortnite Medallions, explained
Highlights
  • Medallions in Fortnite are an item you get by defeating a boss on the island.
  • The current season medallions are Carapace Medallion, Springleg Medallion and Surge Medallion.
  • Since Chapter 5 Season 1 when they were first introduced there have been quite a few different medallions.

The introduction of Fortnite Medallions have totally changed the game, and it looks like medallions will pretty much always be a part of the battle royale from now on.

What are Fortnite Medallions?

Medallions in Fortnite are an item you get by defeating a boss on the island. There are usually multiple available. When carrying a medallion, it is dropped back on the ground whenever you die and bleed out (in duos, trios, or squads).

Once you pick one up, your location is somewhat visible on the map. A broad circle around your location shows up for every other player. The more medallions you have, the smaller the circle is. They provide players with a specific augment, though.

There are new Fortnite medallions in most seasons, though sometimes, there are holdovers. Regardless, each Fortnite season represents something new with the items, so there’s always a reason to check out the bosses every time.

However, everyone else has the same incentive, and with certain medallions being really valuable, there could be a lot of chaos, so keep that in mind before you go skydiving into the most populated POI to try and take home the medallion.

The current season has the following medallions:

  • Carapace Medallion – shield regenerates over time and grants siphon on elimination
  • Springleg Medallion – grants double jump
  • Surge Medallion – increases movement speed and grants boost when sliding

Fortnite Medallions Locations

The location of each Fortnite medallion changes all the time. For one thing, once it’s taken from a boss, it is mobile, and it’s dropped once that player is eliminated, so it’s possible to get it virtually anywhere. The location of the bosses changes every season with new bosses, too.

In the current Chapter 6, Season 4 the bosses are Queen Bug Surge, Queen Bug Carapace, and Queen Bug Springleg. You can find Springleg in Ranger’s Ruin roaming around. Surge is found in the Hive. Carapace is in Demon’s Debris. Defeating them is no easy feat, but it’s the easiest way to obtain the medallions.

All Fortnite Medallions Since Chapter 5 Season 1

Since Chapter 5, there have been quite a few different medallions. Here are all of them:

Chapter 5 Season 1

  • Montague’s Medallion
  • Peter Griffin’s
  • Valeria’s
  • Oscar’s
  • Nisha’s

All medallions from the original season have the same effect, just compounded. They allow you to increase shield over time, with the amount of increase going up with more medallions. Since then, they’ve been given different abilities for players.
