Fortnite lore: 5 burning questions we need answered

Fortnite Kevin the Cube

What started as a cartoonish Battle Royale with a new twist has turned into one of the most complex and intricate storylines in all of video games.

If you don’t think Fortnite has a plotline, then you’re not paying attention. Everything is connected, as official sources have told us time and time again.

I’m sure we still have years worth of new questions coming in the future.

For now, let’s talk about the five most pressing questions we want to see answered when it comes to the lore of the Fortnite universe.

Epic Games

Who are the Seven?

The Seven remain the most mysterious Fortnite in-game organization of all. We know a bit about The IO, but know almost nothing about The Seven.

All we know is that the IO seems to be the establishment – controlling the island and the loop – and The Seven are the resistance.

We know that The Seven include The Visitor, The Scientist, The Paradigm, and The Foundation. That still leaves three members to be revealed.

We are also only assuming what their motivations are – and don’t have too much concrete information to go on.

Are they trying to break the loop? Are they former members of the IO? Were they taken from other universes? We really don’t know too much.

Who are the Seven?

Without getting too into the weeds, the Loop Theory suggests that the Fortnite island is a time loop.

We started somewhere in the middle, then followed it to The End Event (which is also the beginning).

According to this theory, we’re now experiencing the events leading up to the creation of the original map. In other words, we’re in the past (but also the future, because the future is the past).

The theory also relates to Jonesy. To put it simply, the multiple Jonesys in Fortnite are just different versions of the same person from different points in The Loop.

It’s a pretty complicated theory, but it makes the most sense. Now, all that’s left is to see whether or not it’s true.

Who/what is Kevin?

Kevin is an interesting character. For those who don’t know, Kevin was the community-given name to the purple 4D cube that appeared on the map in Chapter 1.

Even if the Loop Theory is true, it doesn’t explain what Kevin was or why it was here in the first place.

Kevin’s existence is one of the biggest lingering mysteries in Fortnite. I doubt we’ve seen the last of him.

What is The Island?

We already covered The Loop Theory, but this one is a bit different.

If we assume the Fortnite island is a closed-loop, then where is it located? We know there is a world outside of Fortnite, but where is that world located?

We’ve seen some fans theorize that the outside world we see is a part of the Save the World universe, but that doesn’t make total sense either.

What’s the connection to all of these cinematic universes? What’s the connection to the real world?

Is The Island some form of Nexus hub where all realities meet?

I’m not sure we’ll ever see a concrete answer to this question, but it’s still burning a hole in my brain.

What is the role of the Imagined Order?

We know that The Seven include The Visitor, The Scientist, The Paradigm, and The Foundation. That still leaves three members to be revealed.

We are also only assuming what their motivations are – and don’t have too much concrete information to go on.

Are they trying to break the loop? Are they former members of the IO? Were they taken from other universes? We really don’t know too much.
