A skin based on Spider-Man’s Iron Spider suit has been leaked for Fortnite, as well as some additional themed cosmetics.
Fortnite recently kicked off its new Absolute Doom season, which is primarily themed around Marvel. There have been many Marvel superhero and supervillain Fortnite skins in the past, but Chapter 5 Season 4 is introducing even more to the battle royale. The battle pass alone includes the likes of Gwenpool, War Machine, and Emma Frost. Epic Games will also be adding a Doctor Doom skin later in the season, but this newest Fortnite leak shows fans could still see a few more Marvel skins come to the game in the near future.
This leak comes courtesy of HYPEX on Twitter, who has been a regular and reliable source of upcoming Fortnite releases.
At the time of writing, there’s no official release date for the Iron Spider Fortnite skin.
Considering its assets already exist within the game’s files, though it’ll most likely arrive sooner rather than later. The Absolute Doom season only began on August 16 and it’s expected to run until November. So, the Iron Spider skin should be added to the game if not by the end of August then during fall. Plus, with this season being Marvel-themed, it wouldn’t make sense for Epic Games to hold off on adding a new Spider-Man skin after the Fortnite season ends.
For anyone unfamiliar, the Iron Spider suit is a suit made by Tony Stark for Peter Parker during the 2006 Civil War storyline in the comics. Peter would also go on to wear this suit in the Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame movies, though its Fortnite appearance more closely resembles how the suit is depicted in the comics.
At the time of writing, Epic has not explained how to unlock the leaked Iron Spider skin in Fortnite.
Unless Epic Games says otherwise, it’s probably safe to assume this skin will simply be available for purchase with vbucks in the in-game store. This is often the case with new skins added midway through a season. It is possible, however, that there will be special quests players can complete to unlock the Iron Spider skin. After all, this will be the case with an upcoming Doctor Doom skin as confirmed on the official Fortnite website.
Based on the leak, the skin will also come with extra cosmetics items like a weapon wrap, a back bling that resembles extra spider arms, and a guitar likely for the Fortnite Festival mode. These extras will likely either be available as separate purchases or come bundled with the skin.
