Fortnite Chapter 2 Seasons 1-3 were packed with more than enough skins and other game material to justify a new OG season this year.
Because of the success of last year’s OG season, Epic Games announced that the last season of Chapter 5 will be a return to the Apollo map. Leaks from reputable Fortnite source ShiinaBR point to November 2024 as the scheduled start to the OG Chapter 2, which will only feature the first three seasons. Seasons 1-3 of Chapter 2 spanned October 2019 to August 2020. In OG 2, each will get a one-week retrospective.
Here’s a look back at all of the Fortnite Chapter 2 skins from Season 1, 2, and 3 as well as the events and locations that could appear in OG 2.
Epic Games released over 230 skins in the year spanning from Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 to Season 3.
Outfits range from being part of major IP properties like Disney to fully original and often adding to existing Fortnite characters. All italicized skins are either battle pass rewards or otherwise exclusive.
Beginning Fortnite Chapter 2, the Season 1 battle pass opens with skin rewards that have two alternate forms rather than just designs. The outfit lineup additionally includes a plethora of seasonal looks that tend to pop up annually.
Chapter 2 Season 2 features several new Slurp skins and is the start of the Fortnite Marvel collaboration that pans out in Season 4. While there are less outfits than the previous season, the quality has to count for something.
Chapter 2 Season 3 introduced popular base skins such as Par Patroller and Surf Witch, the latter of which is the second most played skin of all time. With a run time of June to August, many of these outfits center around a beachy summer theme.
Some early Fortnite Chapter 2 skins like Echo have been seen as recently as late-August 2024, and Tropical Punch Zoey may be in the shop at the time of reading. Meanwhile, other non-battle pass outfits such as Trench Raider have been gone from the shop for four plus years. Given the upcoming OG Season 2, season-specific skins are likely to return to the shop, with holiday ones making their annual appearances.
Run time: October 15, 2019 to February 20, 2020
Known for being the longest season seen so far in Fortnite history, New World establishes Apollo Island after the Black Hole reshaped the entire island at the end of Chapter 1. While a few locations remained mostly the same, completely new areas began popping up for players including Dirty Docks, Misty Meadows, and Slurpy Swamp.
The major theme of Season 1 was opposites, aka alter egos. After the E.G.O. team landed with the aim of exploring and studying Apollo Island, the Loop created snapshots of the organization that formed a new A.L.T.E.R. team. A.L.T.E.R.’s main mission, comparatively, was to destroy E.G.O. out of sheer imposter syndrome.
Though lacking a closing event like other seasons have, their ongoing battle in C2S1 sets the stage for a new character to take advantage of the chaos. Players visiting the Eye Land may have noticed small features turning gold.
Chapter 2 Season 1 also introduced new changes to the battle pass. Players could now reach a maximum level of 1,000, though without rewards past 100, and Epic Games retired battle pass stars in favor of season XP. Furthermore, players could only choose one skin for each rewards tier, A.L.T.E.R. or E.G.O.
Interestingly, Epic Games delayed the end of Season 1 twice. It first pushed the date to February 6 for holiday events, and then to February 20 to test out Unreal Engine’s Chaos physics mechanics ahead of Season 2.
Run time: February 20, 2020 to June 17, 2020
Epic Games themed Chapter 2 Season 2 around secret agents and continued the thread from Season 1 with counterparts. Midas appears and stokes a fight between rival organizations GHOST and SHADOW that also brings in loopers. Ultimately, however, it’s all a distraction. Midas and his daughter, Jules, are really trying to bring an end to the Storm and thus the Loop.
IN C2S2’s final event, Midas’s Device managed to push back The Storm for a short while, until The Storm unleashes a giant tsunami on Apollo Island. Although originally held back as a wall of water, the tsunami eventually breaks through and submerges the island. Midas, disgraced and having failed to break out of The Loop, goes SHADOW and takes over the GHOST and remaining E.G.O. bases.
The Hideout, the location of the battle pass, began changing its theming to match the season in Season 2. Also during Top Secret, the Hideout added challenges and other tasks to the main page. Within the battle pass itself, players could choose to customize one skin, unlock enlightened styles, and get outfits for either GHOST or SHADOW. Battle pass skin rewards consisted of:
Like Season 1 before it, Season 2’s ending was also pushed back by a few weeks. Epic Games cited three main reasons for the extension: to give players more time to collect XP for the enlightened styles, delays in Season 3 production, and the “ongoing injustice in society” in early June 2020.
Run time: June 27, 2020 to August 26, 2020
In contrast to Season 1, Chapter 2 Season 3 is the shortest in Fortnite excluding the OG season. Unlike the first two stages of Chapter 2, Season 3 mainly revolved around the flooding and subsequent drying of the island rather than a firm plot. Players did get to meet an entire kingdom of Fishstick as they drained water from the northeastern region of Apollo Island. Several locations were submerged and became landmarks, while other areas like the Fortilla and Bandit Barge were added for the summer.
C2S3 ends with Thor returning to Apollo Island, originally lacking memories but recovering them just in time to warn the islanders of Galactus’s impending arrival. Thus begins the famous first Fortnite Marvel season, a prequel of sorts to the current one.
No major changes were made to the battle pass during Season 3, although players could also access a feature called Build-a-Brella for the summer. At level five, players unlocked an epic umbrella glider that could be customized by completing additional battle pass levels.
Featured skins in the premium battle pass were:
With each season getting a week in November 2024, players are likely to see major aspects from each throughout OG Chapter 2. The final event has been leaked to be on November 30 and is the probably the start of Chapter 6. Here’s hoping that OG 2 is as good as, well, the OG.
