FNS and s0m reportedly coming back to NRG VCT Roster

NRG with s0m and FNS

NRG’s Valorant squad is teasing the return of two former standouts in Pujan “FNS” Mehta and Sam “s0m” Oh.

Social media teasing all but confirms that FNS and s0m could be returning to NRG and its starting roster after leaving the team in 2023. The North American organization stacked its 2024 VCT squad with hopes of securing a championship. However, failing to make Masters Madrid and placing last in their Americas League Stage 1 group has the organization looking for help in familiar places.

With Max “Demon1” Mazanov returning to the bench, NRG will attempt to recreate him in the aggregate with two returning fraggers.

Going into the 2024 VCT Season, NRG made some big roster changes after a disappointing 2023 season. Ethan “Ethan” Cole Arnold and Demon1 joined the team with Jimmy “Marved” Nguyen. Their additions gave NRG fans hope for the 2024 season.

However, a 3-3 last-place showing and missing Masters Madrid has NRG looking at changes. The NRG X account has been teasing an upcoming announcement, with fans pointing out hidden images of FNS and s0m in their recent post.

Both formerly of OpTic Gaming, FNS and s0m took time off in September 2023 to concentrate on streaming and content creation. The two are now looking to return to the NRG squad. Fans are hoping they will bring victory for NRG at the VCT Americas Stage 2 split.

With their return, Demon1 will have to step back to being a substitute. NRG announced on May 25 on their X that Demon1 will move to the reserve roster going into Stage 2. The world champion did not perform to his highest level in VCT Stage 1. NRG also confirmed that Marved is being released from the organization.

Will the roster moves make NRG Valorant good again?

FNS and s0m were expected to be NRG’s stars in the 2023 VCT Season. After placing 9-12 in Valorant Championship 2023, the pair took a step back to content creation. When NRG had the chance to bring in champions Ethan and Demon1, they were aiming for a redemption arc.

With FNS and s0m refreshed from their time away from competitive Valorant, could joining NRG be enough to achieve success?

NRG is teasing their next move on their X account, and s0m’s X profile now lists “Professional VALORANT Player for ?”. He also talks about getting back to the grind over multiple posts. FNS told G2 on May 23 that it’s been a pleasure.

With the official confirmations of Demon1 and Marved being removed, all signs seem to be pointing to an announcement soon.
