FISSURE has announced the cancellation of its CS2 Playground 3 event due to a “logistical conflict.” Alongside Playground 3, the tournament operator has also scrapped Playground 4 and Playground 7, which were slotted for July 2026 and 2027, respectively.
According to a post on its official X account, the CS2 tournament was cancelled due to an overlap with a “major tournament in South America.” The mentioned tournament is IEM Rio, which was scheduled to kick off on the day after the Playground 3 concluded.
Due to the extremely close window between the two events, it would have been impossible for teams participating in both of these events to attend. This ultimately led to FISSURE pulling the plug on Playground 3.

Talking about the other two cancelled events, FISSURE said hosting tournaments during “the players’ break does not deliver the competition and spectacle” that its audience expects, or the standard that it is “committed” to provide.
However, it’s not the end for FISSURE’s other events. In the same thread, the organizer said, “All other FISSURE tournaments will take place as previously announced. Further details will be shared in upcoming announcements.”
This includes the eight remaining tournaments that they had previously announced. These events will take place over the next three years.
The planned events from FISSURE include an upcoming CS2 tournament in September 2026, which reportedly has a prize pool of $450,000. However, this tournament could face a similar issue as the event kicks off the day after the conclusion of the BLAST Open Season 2.
Invitations for FISSURE Playground 3 were planned to be sent based on March’s Valve Regional Standings (VRS) of CS2.
