FaZe Clan has eliminated Liquid from the PGL Stockholm Major. The European roster won in an entertaining 2-0.
FaZe and Liquid had both entered the tournament with questions surrounding their form. FaZe played a convincing Challenger stage and seemed to be the favorites going into the series.
But what was supposed to be a competitive matchup, turned into a landslide victory on Inferno. Liquid never managed to string a couple of rounds together, always losing to FaZe’s rebuy. AWPer broky had a strong victory and pushed his team to a 16-8 win.
Mirage was the competitive affair we all expected, with Liquid having the stronger start but FaZe recovering from the initial setback.
Liquid took the lead in the latter half of the map and had plenty of chances to close it out, but the American hope let FaZe come back, leading to overtime. Eventually, FaZe edged out the necessary rounds to win the map and series, sending Liquid home.
Furia has reached the Champions playoffs by beating Russian team Entropiq. The Brazilians are the only representatives from the Americas left in the tournament, but can be pleased by their results.
Both teams stole each others map pick, with Furia clutching it out on the decider 16-12.
Entrpoiq have one last chance to make it of of Legends, in the 2-2 decider tomorrow.
