FaZe Clan vs Virtus.pro is one of the matches set to open BLASTS Open Spring 2025, and it’s an interesting one for bettors.
Counter-Strike esports never sleeps and while 2025 has already featured three huge events in ESL Pro League Season 21, IEM Katowice 2025, and PGL Cluj-Napoca. Things aren’t slowing down either, as attention now turns to BLAST Open Spring 2025.
Teams aren’t taking this event off, either. The event includes many of Counter-Strike’s biggest names including FaZe Clan and Virtus.pro. These two squads are set to face off in the opening round of the group stage.
FaZe Clan and Virtus.pro will play on March 19 in the opening round of BLAST Open Spring’s group stage. The match is best-of-three, and takes place in an eight-team, double-elimination bracket. The winner advances forward to face the winner of Astralis vs Team Vitality, while the loser drops to the lower bracket.
FaZe Clan has been looking strong in recent months, which has been somewhat forgotten about due to the team’s inability to win a tournament. FaZe placed top six in IEM Cologne in August 2024, top four in the BLAST Premiere Fall Final in September, and second in the Shanghai Major in the following December. Most recently, it placed fourth in PGL Cluj-Napoca.
The FaZe Clan roster’s strength is still a bit vague after adding North American star EliGe in January:
Over the last six months, FaZe Clan has been strongest on Ancient, but the team doesn’t have eye-popping numbers anywhere. The team has a winning record across Ancient, Mirage, and Nuke, but is under .500 on Inferno, Dust 2, and Anubis. It is yet to play on Train since its return to the competitive map pool.
Virtus.pro has been on a skid for a while now. Since its strong top-four finish in the Esports World Cup in July 2024, the team has mostly fizzled in big events. It was last seen in PGL Cluj-Napoca, where it suffered an early elimination in a shared ninth place.
Here is Virtus.pro’s roster at BLAST Open Spring:
Virtus.pro shook up its roster after the Shanghai Major and there’s not much data to work with when it comes to maps. The only thing that’s certain is that VP is off to a very good start on Dust 2, going 5-2 in 2025 to this point.
FaZe Clan has won the last three matches it has had against Virtus.pro. Don’t let that sway you, though. These teams haven’t played since May 2024 at IEM Dallas 2024, and both teams have gone through roster changes since then.
FaZe Clan is a 1.46 favorite against Virtus.pro, which has a moneyline set at 2.67. Though FaZe Clan stands high atop the rankings relative to VP, bookies don’t have the team as a particularly big favorite.
FaZe Clan should be able to defeat Virtus.pro. There’s a bit of trickiness there with the lack of certainty regarding Virtus.pro’s new lineup, but the early outlook hasn’t been good enough to warrant picking them over a proven squad like FaZe Clan.
