The demises of FaZe Clan and Team Falcons seems to have been greatly exaggerated, as the teams will go head-to-head in the semifinals of PGL Bucharest.
Fans and bettors have had to stay on their toes throughout PGL Bucharest. The tournament has been rife with upsets, with Complexity Gaming making a shocking top-four run while Team Liquid and The MongolZ failed to clear the group stage. Both FaZe Clan and Team Falcons seemed destined for the chopping block after shaky showings in the group stage.
Instead, both teams have lived up to expectations with runs to the top four. Only one of them will be able to make the finals of the event, though.
FaZe Clan and Team Falcons will face off for a spot in the PGL Bucharest finals. The match will take place on April 12, 2025, and will be contended as a best-of-five. The loser isn’t out of the tournament however, as PGL tournaments hold a third-place decider.
FaZe Clan has had the benefit of facing some of the weaker teams throughout PGL Bucharest’s group stage. It still needed to go 3-2 to advance, though. Things started with a 2-1 defeat from Astralis but FaZe bounced back with 2-0 wins over Pain Gaming and Rare Atom. A 2-0 defeat from Complexity pushed them to the brink of elimination, but FaZe beat Apogee Esports in order to advance to the playoffs.
The FaZe Clan roster rallied huge in the playoffs though, taking a dominant 2-0 victory over 3DMAX that included a 13-0 shutout:
FaZe Clan’s best map in 2025 has been Ancient, where it has gone 8-4. It has a similar 66% winrate with a 2-1 record on Mirage and 6-3 record on Nuke. Its worst maps have been Inferno and Anubis, where it has gone 2-4 and 3-4, respectively.
Complexity Gaming’s run to the semifinals started with Team Falcons taking a surprise 2-0 upset. When Falcons took another surprise loss to Team GamerLegion, it looked like there might have been some internal strife within the team following reports of an impending roster shakeup.
Regardless of the “why” Falcons went 0-2, the team had to win out of the group stage in order to reach the playoffs. The team Falcons roster managed to do that by beating Pain Gaming, Rare Atom, and The MongolZ:
Falcons’ current roster has been fine six of the seven active duty maps since coming together. Its worst record is 3-5 on Nuke, while its best is 6-4 on Mirage. The one key note is that the team has been instantly banning Anubis so far.
The current rosters of FaZe Clan and Team Falcons have only faced off once so far. That match was in the semifinals of PGL Cluj-Napoca in February, which Falcons won 2-0.
FaZe Clan is a decisive 1.52 favorite over Team Falcons in their playoffs matchup in PGL Bucharest. A case could be made that this match should be closer to even but the betting sites are likely very impressed by FaZe Clan’s performance against 3DMAX.
FaZe Clan should be able to take a win over Team Falcons in PGL Bucharest. There was cause to doubt FaZe Clan heading into the playoffs, but the emphatic victory over 3DMAX shows the team’s potential.
