FaZe Clan’s Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev era has begun with a loss, but can you bet on the team rebounding against BC.Game Esports in IEM Dallas?
All eyes were on s1mple’s return in the first round of IEM Dallas’ group stage. For better or worse, it was a vintage s1mple showing where he looked great en route to a frustrating defeat. There’s a definite glimmer of hope there when it comes to this FaZe roster, but it remains to be seen how high the ceiling is.
So is the ceiling high enough to beat the likes of BC.Game Esports? Here’s a full betting breakdown of this match.
FaZe Clan and BC.Game Esports are set for an elimination match in IEM Dallas 2025’s group stage. The best-of-three match will take place on May 20, 2025. The winner of the match will advance forward in the group stage, but will need to win two more matches to earn a playoff berth.
Day one of IEM Dallas was all about s1mple and while he performed fairly well individually, FaZe Clan walked away with a loss. The match was reminiscent of his early days with NaVi, where he posted some incredible individual heroics and good overall stats en route to a narrow loss.
It’s unclear whether s1mple’s run with FaZe Clan will be fruitful or if he’ll ever return to NaVi. There’s little doubt that he remains razor sharp and that’s bad news for BC.Game Esports.
FaZe Clan had a good-but-not-great 2025 but suffered consecutive early exits from BLAST Rivals Spring and IEM Melbourne prior to IEM Dallas:
s1mple joined FaZe Clan’s roster on loan from NaVi before IEM Dallas, replacing Helvijs “broky” Saukants:
FaZe’s map pool doesn’t really stand out in any way except for its losing record on Mirage. s1mple’s deadly AWP should be a boon to the team on Dust 2 and Train, but the match against Liquid didn’t go to either of these maps.
BC.Game Esports entered IEM Dallas on a skid across the BLAST Austin Major qualifiers and CCT Season 2 Global Finals:
BC.Game has been competing various tier-two tournaments and events, but benched star player Joakim “jkaem” Myrbostad in April:
BC.Game has had a fairly fluid roster since its formation, so different iterations of the team have performed at different levels across different maps. Over the last three months, BC.Game Esports has been strongest on Dust 2 and weakest on Anubis, going 14-5 and 2-5, respectively. The team has also consistently banned Nuke during this stretch.
FaZe Clan and BC.Game Esports have never played against each other. BC.Game has been grinding on the tier-two and qualifier scene, while FaZe Clan exclusively competes in prominent tournaments. There hasn’t been much of an opportunity for a showdown.
FaZe is a huge betting favorite in this match against BC.Game Esports. The moneylines stand at 1.18 against 4.61. While BC.Games has a shot of winning, the betting sites aren’t giving them much of a chance.
FaZe Clan will likely defeat BC.Game Esports. FaZe Clan lost 2-0 to a fringe top-10 contender in Team Liquid, but didn’t look bad by any measure. This isn’t looking like a collapse like what fans just saw with G2 Esports at PGL Astana. FaZe should be able to get the better of a seemingly overmatched opponent.
