Saudi Arabian organization Team Falcons are the FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2 champions, having defeated Russian org BetBoom in the Grand Finals on Sunday, Nov. 2. The Falcons took home the trophy from the Belgrade-based event after a lower bracket run that saw them narrowly avoid elimination at multiple points.
In the Grand Finals they faced off against BetBoom, the TI14 champions were able to continue their remarkable success, defeating their opponents 3-1
But that scoreline belies some difficult games the team faced in this event. Far from their dominant TI14 form, the Falcons struggled against teams with newer, less-experienced rosters throughout the event. In contrast to many of the flawless runs we’ve seen in the past, Falcons dropped games to Tundra, Team Spirit, and Team Liquid.
Ultimately, this could be down to some draft experimentation, with the team experimenting more in games one and two of a series. But in the final game of the tournament in particular, Falcons struggled to put BetBoom to bed.
With the victory, Team Falcons take home $300,000 of player prize money, with $50,000 going directly to the team, as part of FISSURE’s Club Reward programme. BetBoom, take home $150,000 for players, and $30,000 for the club.
Falcons will continue on a packed schedule over the remaining few months of the year. Later this week they head to Singapore to compete in the finals of BLAST Slam IV. Then just a few weeks later they travel to Chengdu for BLAST Slam V. Finally, DreamLeague Season 27 will conclude the 2025 competitive year.
