Twitch streamer and OTK member Emily “ExtraEmily” Zhang has been unbanned after receiving her second ban on Twitch a day after running a red light while streaming live.
ExtraEmily’s Twitch history has been mostly spotless, with just one ban coming back in October 2023. That happened during an IRL stream in which she was using her phone, which Twitch flagged under its dangerous or distracted driving policy. Her latest ban wasn’t too far off from that prior offense. This time, it was for a driving infraction she happened to commit during another IRL stream.
In an April 13 stream, ExtraEmily ran a red light and even flipped her camera to show the exact moment it happened. Less than a day later, her channel was temporarily taken down from Twitch.
According to the streamer, Twitch banned her due to distracted driving during her April 2025 livestream. ExtraEmily was then unbanned from Twitch just a day later.
While driving to a cafe in her home city of Austin, ExtraEmily had a camera mounted on her windshield to chat with viewers as she drove. But she kept flipping between the front and rear cameras, likely contributing to her missing the red light. About half an hour into the stream, she was once again mid-flip when a signal turned red. A few seconds later, she stopped the car to acknowledge the infraction. But instead of taking responsibility, she blew it off, saying that it “It happens all the time” in Austin.
“In Austin, you know, the stoplights here are really long so usually I just go past. It’s fine, it’s fine, people do that.” ExtraEmily said.
She was banned the same day. Taking to her Discord channel, ExtraEmily confirmed that Twitch had banned her for distracted driving. She also said she’ll try her best and “improve from this mishap.”
The suspension from Twitch ended up lasting for only a single day, after which Twitch promptly unbanned her. The streamer’s fans were quite happy with ExtraEmily’s prompt return, though there was some wider consternation about the streamer being allowed to resume use of the platform so quickly after such a potentially dangerous episode.
