Jason “PirateSoftware” Thor Hall apparently caused two level 60 OnlyFangs members to be killed during a dungeon run, and his actions during and after the event have led to much in the way of drama and even backlash against the streamer.
The OnlyFangs WoW Classic hardcore guild is one of the most popular guilds in the scene. This is in no small part thanks to the popular members who constantly butt heads amongst the guild’s streamer membership. WoW drama is nothing new and it makes sense that a guild with so many members bringing their egos with them would have some friction. For instance, Jaryd “summit1G” Russell Lazar and Thomas “Sodapoppin” Morris had previously beefed because of the latter’s reaction to a cheater in the guild being caught red-handed.
Now there is another drama ongoing in OnlyFangs, but for once most fans are overwhelmingly on one side of it. PirateSoftware is caught in the middle of the feud and many claim he is the reason the guild lost two high-level members’ characters.
PirateSoftware is facing backlash from the WoW hardcore community and many OnlyFangs members because they claim he caused two high-level OnlyFangs members to be killed in a dungeon run.
On January 12, 2025, a Twitch stream clip surfaced of a 5-player WoW dungeon run including Ozyfell, PirateSoftware, Sara, Snupy, and Yamato. The team was progressing through the Dire Maul North dungeon but had to backtrack.
While running, every member but PirateSoftware stopped to fight some pursuing enemies. Since PirateSoftware was the group’s mage, many thought he’d use helpful spells in the ensuing battle, like Polymorph or Frost Nova. Instead, he cast Ice Barrier on himself and continued running. Level 60 OnlyFangs members Sara and Snupy died in the encounter, and many claim it’s due to Pirate’s inaction.
The outrage PirateSoftware faced led to him banning a huge number of people from his Twitch chat, but the debate didn’t stop there. In another stream clip shared on Reddit, Yamato asked Pirate to take accountability for his actions. PirateSoftware refused to accept that he was at fault and ended the call with Yamato, claiming he wasn’t interested.
OnlyFangs members weighed in on the drama and most blame PirateSoftware for the deaths of the high-level members. summit1G claimed that when there’s trouble in a dungeon you don’t run and leave your team behind. Those circumstances mean that you help each other to get out unless it’s “super cooked” and then you have to vanish and save yourself.
Sodapoppin even stated Pirate isn’t really a mage but rather a “glorified shadow priest” with a selfish power shield. Mages are expected to bring group utility to dungeon runs, and PirateSoftware’s lack of helpfulness disqualified him from such a consideration. Sodapoppin later stated that Pirate completely “roached out,” but that the hate for him is getting sad and annoying.
In a Twitch stream, PirateSoftware replied aggressively to the ongoing OnlyFangs drama and claimed those hating on him are only doing it to increase their views.
On January 13, 2025, Pirate tweeted that he received death threats from angry viewers. He claimed that the unsuccessful dungeon run was simply down to a communication issue. The content creator stated this was the second time they had failed the dungeon. He went on to say that everyone in the group, including him, made mistakes. The streamer said that it’s unfair to pin the deaths of Sara and Snupy on just one person.
During a January 14, 2025 stream, Pirate talked about the hate he is receiving because of the ongoing drama. He claimed that streamers are “cannibalizing” him to boost their own numbers, and that it may work for them for now but in the future others won’t be as eager to collaborate with them after seeing how they’ve treated him. Pirate told his haters to have their minute of fun while it lasts.
Unrelated streamers also chimed in to give their two cents. Popular streamer Felix “xQc” Lengyel claimed PirateSoftware should be banned from OnlyFangs. In a stream, the content creator stated he would kick him from the guild if he were the guild leader.
