EDG has been embroiled in drama ever since its Valorant team benched star player Hsieh “S1Mon” Meng-hsun and replaced him with Zhang “Jieni7” Juntai.
EDward Gaming made a significant change to its pro Valorant roster by bringing in Jieni7 and benching S1Mon, who many argue was the primary reason for the team’s recent success. S1Mon’s fans began bashing the team and Jieni7, which created a potentially toxic environment for the squad. EDG manager Aqua tried to clear the air by doing a live stream, but that didn’t much help. Things instead got worse when Aqua provided evidence of S1Mon criticizing his fellow team members. This led to his teammates publicly airing their grievances and blaming S1Mon for a variety of issues.
EDG’s Valorant team’s drama is still ongoing and the latest update features leaked messages between Aqua and S1Mon.
Taiwanese Valorant player S1Mon has blamed EDG for excluding him, but his fellow players have hit back and claimed S1Mon is the original cause of all the drama.
S1Mon claimed that the team was bullying him and that he was benched so he’d be excluded from playing pro Valorant. This led to his fans making negative comments about the team and his replacement, Jieni7. Zhang “Smoggy” Zhao was even doxxed, causing EDG to take legal action and file a police report.
Team manager Aqua claimed the roster swap was made because Jieni7 was training harder and S1Mon was apparently slacking. EDG players sent donations in the stream during Aqua’s explanation, leading to viewers speculating that S1Mon’s team members are agreeing with Aqua.
When S1Mon was called out for being unprofessional and not training hard enough, he questioned the professionalism and training frequency of his fellow teammates. This led to the player receiving significant pushback from the rest of the roster. S1Mon’s teammates were largely silent until he involved them in the drama, but are now speaking up in force.
ZmjjKK bashed S1Mon for accusing the team of false allegations in his streams. He claimed S1Mon wouldn’t have been benched if he was as talkative with the team as he was with his fans. Wang “nobody” Senxu also accused S1Mon of failing to communicate with the team. He claimed the player was demoted due to not working hard enough.
Zhang “Smoggy” Zhao questioned why S1Mon singled out him and Nobody for not practicing their aim. Smoggy claimed everyone trains differently and accused S1Mon of not wanting to play with the rest of the team. Wan “CHICHOO” Shunzhi was perhaps the most blunt in his response as he stated that results are the primary goal, and that if there were no problem, S1Mon wouldn’t have been replaced.
