Team Liquid and Eternal Fire are set for a showdown in the opening round of BLAST Open Spring’s group stage and it’s an interesting match from a betting perspective.
It’s been a busy start to 2025 and Eternal Fire hasn’t had a chance to rest. The Turkish team has been playing non-stop since competing in the BLAST Bounty Spring qualifiers in January. While burnout is a real phenomenon in esports, Eternal Fire has been continuously strong.
Team Liquid’s schedule hasn’t been as rigorous, but the team has still been active. The good news is that this provides plenty of data to make informed bets with.
Eternal Fire and Team Liquid will face off on March 20, 2025 in the group stage of BLAST Open Spring. The group stage is split into two double-elimination brackets with eight teams each. There are only six slots in the playoffs, with the winner of each group advancing directly to the semifinals while the second and third head to the quarterfinals.
2025 is shaping up much like 2024 did for Eternal Fire. The team has been competing regularly and actively, but without posting any eye-popping results. Make no mistake though, Eternal Fire has been consistent in advancing deep into tournaments with Counter-Strike’s best.
The team’s roster in BLAST Open Spring is as follows:
Eternal Fire is very strong on Nuke and Anubis. Beyond that, there isn’t much to say about Eternal Fire’s map pool except that they’re generally solid. There aren’t any glaring weaknesses right now.
Team Liquid has had a generally similar set of results. It’s not playing quite as frequently, but the team has posted generally solid results with each outing. Though it had an earlier exit than it would’ve liked from IEM Katowice, it finished top eight in ESL Pro League Season 21.
Here is Liquid’s roster:
Team Liquid has been at its best on Anubis and has a 71% winrate on the map over the last six months. The team has downright struggled on Nuke, and things are even worse on Dust 2 as Liquid’s winrate is under 20% there.
Eternal Fire and Team Liquid have only played against each other a few times in their histories. Most of these are in the comparatively distant past, save a very recent showdown in ESL Pro League Season 21. Team Liquid won that match 2-0.
Eternal Fire is a 1.73 favorite. Meanwhile, Team Liquid, a 2.08 underdog in their match at BLAST Open Spring. Those moneylines are almost identical to what they were during their last match, suggesting bookies see this one as fairly close to a tossup.
Eternal Fire will likely beat Team Liquid, but this is a very close matchup. As stated, Liquid actually beat the Turkish squad just days ago. Still, Eternal Fire is the objectively better team and is an awkward matchup.
