Not to be outdone by PGL of all people, ESL seems to be hinting at their involvement in the second Major of 2022 after tweeting this video:
Coming just a day after the conclusion of PGL’s Major in Antwerp – won emphatically by old man Karrigan and his boyish squad – the video seems to confirm the Major that fans thought might be lost to COVID-19: Rio de Janeiro.
The video, alone, doesn’t tell us much. It doesn’t say anything at all, really. However, the caption of ‘cs_rio’ is enough for me to make my assumptions. The video itself is actually just some artwork, nice artwork, but still just artwork. There’s a catchy song that goes with it though.
I just feel like some highlights of fans spitting on players and crawling under security fences might have gone nicely here…
The second-largest city in Brazil, Rio has been host to many sports festivals in the past few years, such as the Olympics and the football World Cup – but who gives a shit about those? This is Counter-Strike, that’s much better. Brazil, itself, has also been host to CS events before, with ESL hosting ESL One: Belo Horizonte – won by a much different looking FaZe Clan.
