Since it was reported that Jake “Stewie2K” Yip and William “RUSH” Wierzba were rumored to be benched by Evil Geniuses, a whole host of names have been cited as potential replacements. Such names include the new G2 signing, Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen, and benched OG player Valdemar “valde” Bjorn Vangså.
Finally, the roster has been formalized, with former k23 IGL Sanzhar “neaLaN” Ishakov taking the reins from stewie, and Jadan “HexT” Postma being promoted to the main roster from EG.CD in place of RUSH.
neaLaN is no surprise, after being mentioned in the initial reports, although HexT comes as a bit of one, seeing as EG was previously rumored to be signing Kevin “misutaaa” Rabier, who had just been benched by Vitality thanks to their pursuit of Lotan “Spinx” Giladi.
The move for misutaaa reportedly fell through due to the organization’s reluctance to use a loophole in order to maintain their spot in NA RMRs, in which they would have needed to field a North American substitute to play in.
Completing the roster as head coach will be Daniel “vorborg” Vorborg, the former coach and Director of Esports of Copenhagen Flames. At Copenhagen Flames he was partially responsible for the meteoric rise of their previous roster, who enjoyed Cinderella runs at two consecutive Majors, PGL Stockholm and PGL Antwerp.
The new lineup will first be showcased at the BLAST Premier Fall Groups, where they will be hoping to improve on their last-placed finish in the Spring Groups.
