Upcoming Dota 2 event DreamLeague Season 27 is having a chaotic leadup as multiple teams have dropped out, switched owners, lost sponsorship, or are straight up out.
Today’s latest revelation, that Western European team AVULUS would miss the tournament after qualifying, means that MOUZ will take their place. But that’s just the start of a complex web of replacements and swaps.
MOUZ will take AVULUS place at DreamLeague Season 27 as the latter team were reportedly “unable to field a full roster.” That issue likely sparks from Marcel “Ekki” Hołowienk’s decision to qualify with Pipsqueak+4 during DreamLeague Division 2 Season 1. Ekki had already qualifiers with AVULUS, but chose to compete in the second tournament and stick with Pipsqueak+4.
However, this isn’t the only shuffle to the upcoming events’ lineup. With OG signing Team Aureus, the organization who failed to qualify through DreamLeague Division 2 are back in contention.
North American team Wildcard dropped their entire roster, and so that stack will compete as Apex Genesis at this event.
And, there’s potentially more turmoil upcoming as Team Yandex is yet to confirm their Position 4 player for the event. While Alexey “prblms” Parshukov competed with the team for some of their Division 2 Season 1 run, it was TI-winner and inactive Tundra esports Player Martin “Saksa” Sazdov who played the most matches with the team, which had a dominant run during their qualifications.
As a result, it’s up to ESL FACEIT, the operators of DreamLeague Season 27, on which player will compete with Yandex. And should either decline or be unable to for some reason, Yandex will also forfeit their spot, and will likely be replaced.
With a huge 24-team tournament, it’s perhaps not surprising that so much chaos is coming from this tournament. However, it’s still quite unorthodox. DreamLeague Season 27 is scheduled to start on Dec. 10 and run until Dec. 21. Stick with Jaxon.gg for more Dota 2 news and updates.
