ESL announces and begins DreamLeague Division 2 Season 2

DreamLeagueDiv2S2

ESL has revealed that DreamLeague Division 2 Season 2 is already here, as the Tier 2 savior league kicks off today (Nov. 4).

The last minute announcement came on Nov. 3 alongside a hasty team and talent reveal. Last month’s DreamLeague Division 2 Season 1 was heralded as a great move for the struggling Tier 2 Dota scene. Let’s take a look at the details.

DreamLeague Division 2 Season 2 details revealed

DreamLeague Division 2 Season 2 will run from Nov. 4 to Nov. 11 featuring a svelte lineup of eight teams in a round-robin group stage until Nov. 7. Then from Nov. 8 to Nov. 11, the playoffs will run with standard double-elimination rules.

The prize pool is $50,000 with $15,000 of that going to the winner, and perhaps more importantly, an invite to DreamLeague Season 27.

However, the most newsworthy part of DreamLeague Division 2 Season 2 has been the teams. While last season featured organizations like OG and Team Yandex, this month’s event will feature eSpoiled, Kamychata, Team Tea, 4Pirates, Most Wanted, Perrito Panzon, a revitalized Team Tidebound, and the Clement “Puppey” Ivanov led Team Public.

Who is Team Public?

Yes, Team Public appears to be a stack with Puppey, but not Team Secret. The lineup featuring former OG carry  Indji “Shad” Lub, Elliott “Adzantick” Hammond, Mark “mangekyou” Kharlamo, and Turkish standout Jeezy will compete alongside Tidebound and 4Pirates for the final DreamLeague Season 27 spot.

But Puppey has assured fans that this isn’t Team Secret. Even though the team name is a clear riff on Team Secret. Team Public, as in not a secret. Get it?

It’s a fun little wrinkle in the last chance to get to DreamLeague Season 27. While it’s been odd that a small eight team tournament has decided the final spot for the event, we’re happy to see some spice in the form of the Team Public roster. And with other stacked lineups like Tidebound and Perrito Panzon, there could be some interesting games in this short event.
