After much speculation, Herschel “Dr Disrespect” Beahm has officially announced that he’s joining Rumble with a lucrative deal, but what does this mean for his future on YouTube?
The controversial streamer Dr Disrespect was banned from Twitch in 2020 but no reason was given. However, in 2024, a Twitch employee disclosed that a streamer was banned for inappropriately chatting with a minor. This led to fans speculating that the streamer was Dr Disrepect. The Twitch employee didn’t give any names but Dr Disrespect admitted to messaging a minor.
This caused an uproar among viewers and was followed by Dr Disrespect taking some time off from streaming, but he eventually returned to streaming on YouTube. However, YouTube didn’t monetize his channel which caused fans to speculate that he’d move to Rumble. The streamer has finally given fans an exact answer and they know where they can find his streams moving forward.
Dr Disrespect announced on X that he’s making the permanent move to the streaming platform Rumble.
On November 25, 2024, Dr Disrepect made a post on X announcing that he joined Rumble and will start streaming there from December 2, 2024. The streamer has been permanently banned from Twitch and YouTube has demonetized the streamer. Therefore, the best choice for making money from his content is to move to a different platform.
However, Kick was never a likely choice for him and Dr Disrespect started to hint at joining Rumble. While the move has been made official, Rumble isn’t nearly as popular with fans as YouTube, Twitch, or even Kick. Kick leadership and Dr Disrespect both stated that they were in negotiations, but no deal materialized. This was before the controversy that saw him demonetized on YouTube, which likely undermined Dr Disrespect’s bargaining power further.
It’s very likely that Rumble was the best choice left for Dr Disrespect, although it seems he’ll play a bigger part on the platform than just streaming.
Rumble announced that Dr Disrespect’s deal includes equity in Rumble Gaming and the streamer will help build the site’s audience.
In a statement on its business site, Rumble stated that Dr Disrespect will continue to stream his free content on the platform but will also provide exclusive content on Rumble Premium for his community. Furthermore, the streamer will be leading Rumble Gaming. He’ll act as an advisor to help grow the gaming community on the platform.
Rumble’s statement on Dr Disrespect suggests that his livestreaming content will be Rumble-exclusive, though this isn’t yet confirmed by the streamer.
“[Dr Disrespect] will continue to stream his free show on Rumble, with additional exclusive content available to subscribers of his community through Rumble Premium,” Rumble’s statement reads.
The streamer hasn’t explicitly stated whether he will quit YouTube or multistream his content. Twitch and YouTube have stopped forcing streamers to stream exclusively on their platforms. Kick allows most of its contracted streamers to use other platforms while requiring a certain amount of exclusive content.
Regardless, Dr Disrespect will still likely post some content to his YouTube channel. Despite being demonetized, he maintains a following of over 4.5 million subscribers. Whether he will be able to simulcast across both platforms, or whether he will start posting highlight reels to his platform again is unknown.
