Amid the discovery and spread of new COVID-19 variants, DPC 2021-22’s first major, the Winter Major, stands cancelled.

The Winter Tour of the Dota Pro Circuit 2021-22 has been nearing its end with majority of the regions, except China, having completed most of their matches.

The unfeasibility of attending a LAN tournament, owing to increased travel restrictions, forced Valve to come to the difficult decision of cancelling the first Major.

Since the first Major is no longer happening, Valve has decided to redistribute points earned by teams in the first season, to the second and third Major.

The distribution stands as follows:

Major 2:

  • 1st Place – 520 Points
  • 2nd Place – 310 Points
  • 3rd Place – 210 Points
  • 4th Place – 105 Points
  • 5th Place – 52 Points

Major 3:

  • 1st Place – 680 Points
  • 2nd Place – 410 Points
  • 3rd Place – 270 Points
  • 4th Place – 135 Points
  • 5th Place – 68 Points

Editor’s note: While the points are being redistributed, it is still unknown IF the $500,000 prize-money will be redistributed.

That being said, in the absence of the first Major, it’ll also be interesting to see how the vaccuum gets filled up.
