Former pro player and popular Dota 2 streamer Mason has just earned his ninth Twitch ban. Here’s what happened.
Mason enjoyed a relatively successful career in Dota 2 esports before he turned to streaming. In 2024, he has a solid following across his social channels, and Dota 2 fans enjoy his Twitch content the most thanks to his high-level play, though his edgy personality received more mixed reviews. He’s also pretty popular for being the guy who keeps getting banned on Twitch.
Mason has once again landed under the spotlight for another Twitch ban. This would be his ninth ban on Twitch, which means it may last longer than those previously received.
Neither mason nor Twitch has revealed the official reason behind his being banned again, but his channel was suspended right after a questionable speech made during a September 4 livestream.
Mason’s chat urged him to give an edgy speech, something he’s become famous for. The streamer claimed that it comes naturally to him and that it’s not a big deal before he went into a minute-long rant.
“I hate everyone who streams and waves the SJW banner. Look at this, this is the pride banner, Look at me, I’m they/them/he/who/ha.” Mason said. “I am a black man. It’s the 4th of July, and I am getting liberated.”
mason then made repeated reference to racial epithets.
His live audience seemed thoroughly entertained, judging by the enthusiastic clapping emoji spam in the comments. However, the high didn’t last for very long. Mason’s channel is currently MIA, replaced by a “temporarily unavailable” message due to a TOS violation. Apparently, his content crossed a line, prompting the temporary takedown.
His last ban in March was for performing the TikTok meme “Glizzy Overdrive” with a hot dog. He remained banned for two days then. The ban before that was due to bigoted remarks made against Russian people, and he remained banned for a month before he returned.
It remains to be seen if this ban will be longer than both for mason or if Twitch will take the drastic measure of permanently axing his channel. Only time will tell if he’ll get another chance to stream or if this ban will be the final curtain call.
