Quartero’s Curios, the battle pass-lite event that kicked off in August this year, is back, with more sets, and a way to grab past items you might have missed.
Unveiled without much fanfare, just a single post from spokesperson Wykrhm Reddy, this new second edition of Quartero’s Curios will run alongside the ongoing Monster Hunter crossover event.
Slated to run until Thursday, March 5, 2026, Quartero’s Curios gives players the chance to earn four unique gear sets for Shadow Shaman, Axe, and Shadow Fiend, as well as a dozen unique event effects, and 12 chances to unlock a random other set or Arcana.
Like last time, to earn these sets you’ll need to level up by playing games of Dota 2. Win or lose you’ll earn experience, with Wins earning 650xp and losses earning 250xp. For Turbo, you’ll earn 425xp for a win, and 175xp for a loss. And your first level and item is free.

There’s 300 levels in total, across two tiers of gear. And, of course, there’s more lore being dispensed by everyone’s favorite cursed storyteller, Quartero. Last event we learnt he has to give out free items or he experiences a horrible and painful death. Now he returns, albeit wrapped up in some more seasonal clothes. Perhaps this time we’ll learn more about his adventuring party.
But perhaps most notably, there’s also now a chance to earn the items you might have missed from the past edition of Quartero’s Curios. By using Shards, you can purchase the previous, with no additional games played. Great for players with a bountiful surplus of Shards and three weekly-win bonuses. And on top of this, there’s still the Monster Hunter event to enjoy.

The return of Quartero also means some are speculating that the goat-headed fellow is definitely connected to the next hero release. Whether Quartero himself (Perhaps, but we feel unlikely) or someone related to his story. Or, as typical for Valve, it could be nothing but another red herring.
Either way, it’s a winter event to capitalize on a surge in players and a lull in more meaty additional content.
