Dokibird ran a charity stream with a custom PC being put up for grabs for the winner, but she has been accused of scamming participants and pocketing the resulting money, leading the vtuber to speak up with her own claims of the truth in an effort to squash the burgeoning drama.
Dokibird is an independent English vtuber who debuted in 2020 but retired a relatively short time later in 2021. The vtuber made a comeback in 2024 and held a PC charity auction for the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation. The auction stream was seemingly mismanaged, which caused accusations to then be levied against Dokibird.
Dokibird was accused of pocketing the money raised for charity for herself and putting on the supposed charity stream for an easy tax write-off opportunity. The vtuber has now spoken up and denied all the accusations. She claims that the mismanagement was due to her previous management and that she paid the winner an amount of money in place of the custom PC that she previously failed to deliver.
Vtuber Dokibird shared her version of why the auction was mishandled and blamed her management for taking over and controlling her brand without her permission, leading to accusations being leveled against her and resulting drama.
Dokibird apologized to everyone in her statement for how the auction was handled and commended the winner for their patience. The vtuber accepted responsibility for everything that happened but stated that it wasn’t her doing alone. She explained that her previous management had taken control of her brand while the auction was concluding.
Dokibird claimed that her management was making decisions related to the charity stream and other matters without her knowledge. The content creator was forced to relocate from her home under police supervision at the time, and she alluded to the situation being caused by issues related to the auction.
The vtuber said that the PC builder changed the quoted price multiple times during the auction itself. The content creator elaborated that no binding contract was signed between the parties, and that the builder was eventually demanding a hefty amount of money while claiming to have spent 120 hours building and working on the custom PC.
Dokibird continued by claiming that she’d requested the builder provide proof of having spent that much time on the PC. The vtuber claimed the builder said there was a time-lapse video demonstrating the time spent working on the PC, but refused to share it. Dokibird was then accused of pocketing the charity money and holding the entire event for a potenial tax write-off. The vtuber refuted this claim and said that the money raised was directly sent to the charity through Tiltify.
The vtuber said that in the end, she gave the auction winner money to resolve the situation due to issues with Amazon canceling PC parts.
The mixed explanation wasn’t to the satisfaction of all of the vtuber’s fans, but others did express appreciation for Doki coming forward with the information and attempting to assuage concerns related to the charity auction and how it was handled.
