The Concord beta has arrived, but will PS5 players be able to team up with PC fans using crossplay?
Concord is a 5v5 multiplayer first-person shooter developed by Firewalk Studios. The game hopes to set itself apart with a variety of maps and modes featuring a castt of unique characters. Published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, the live-service shooter title will feature 16 characters known as FreeGunnners as they complete high-stakes jobs across a galaxy named Concord. The game is already making waves in the streaming world, leading spectators to join in on the fun. However, the game runs on two distinct platforms in PC and PlayStation 5. For a competitive game like Concord, maintaining a wide player pool is a top priority.
Firewalk Studios has already revealed its plans for crossplay, and it’s already in motion for the first Concord beta test.
Yes, the Concord beta supports crossplay between PC and PlayStation 5.
The game supports crossplay since it launched in early access beta on July 12. However, fans should note that Concord is only available in early access for players who have pre-ordered the game. Concord will feature three multiplayer modes and a variety of maps set across different locations. Through an official blog post, PlayStation revealed that “No matter what platform you play on, the Concord Beta Early Access and Open Beta will allow you to team up with friends on either PS5 or PC through optional cross-play support.”
Concord will require a PlayStation Network account to play, and fans on PC will require a Steam or Epic Games account to initiate crossplay. Players will be prompted to register for a PlayStation Network account upon launch, a controversial requirement.
The first early access beta will be available starting July 12 for players who pre-ordered the hero shooter. A second open beta from July 18 to 21 which will be separately available for all players regardless of pre-order. The game will feature three distinct multiplayer modes including from Trophy Run and Clash Point with four maps at launch. Concord will be available for a global open launch on available platforms on August 23, 2024. The first-person shooter title developed by Sony Entertainment will be available on PlayStation 5 and on PC via Steam and Epic Games store.
