Epic Games just added a new mask in Fortnite Chapter 6, and it may make the player feel like Yoru from Valorant.
The massively popular battle royale Fortnite has boasted hundreds of crossovers since its debut. With popularity not stalling anytime soon, Epic Games looks to add new mechanics to the game as well. Chapter 5’s medallions were a hit among fans and in Fortnite’s latest Chapter 6, Epic has added Oni Masks with special abilities.
The Void Mask in particular comes with a nifty teleportation ability that players can use to get out of tricky situations. Valorant players immediately compared the skill to a certain Agent’s kit. According to some fans, the Void Mask’s teleportation ability is similar to the Valorant agent Yoru’s Gatecrash.
Valorant agent Yoru’s Gatecrash ability may function similarly to the newly released Void Oni Mask in Fortnite Chapter 6.
Gatecrash is an ability in Valorant that the Japanese agent Yoru possesses. Upon activation, players can send out a dimensional rift that moves toward the direction the player is looking. The rift stops moving if it encounters any obstacle. Players can then press a specific button to activate the ability and instantly teleport to the rift.
Unlike the Valorant ability, the Void Oni Mask in Fortnite remains stationary after sending the rift out. That’s where the differences between the two end. Regardless of the difference between the rift and the player, activating the ability will teleport the player’s character to wherever the rift is. As for the supposed inspiration, teleportation in a MOBA game is a popular skill. Fans likely just associated the two because of the Japanese connection. The addition of a teleportation mechanic sparked the interest of competitive players, who were excited about a new way to play Fortnite.
Players can acquire the Void Oni Mask by randomly finding it in chests or looting the Night Rose boss in Fortnite.
There are two types of Void Oni Masks that players can get in the game. Both masks have the teleportation ability. The difference between the two is that the mythic variant has more charges players can use. Finding the epic variant depends on luck as it randomly spawns in normal and elemental chests.
The mythic variant, however, can be acquired by defeating Night Rose. She can be found in the Demon’s Dojo POI. The fight will not be easy as Night Rose has minions that will attack the players. Players should ensure they’re properly prepared to defeat the boss if they want to get the Void Oni mask.
