Did Nijisanji vtuber Finana hint at graduation?

Fans noticed some strange activity from the vtuber Finana Ryugu’s past life,  sparking rumors about her graduation from Nijisanji.

Finana Ryugu joined Nijisanji EN with the agency’s first wave LazuLight alongside Elira Pendora and Pomu Rainpuff. Much like other Niji EN vtubers, Finana was also affected by the “curse” and faced technical issues while debuting on May 16, 2021. Fortunately for her, the incident endeared her to fans, making her one of the most popular acts in the agency.

The vtuber has had a successful career with Nijijsanji, thanks to her soft-spoken voice contrasting with a headstrong personality.  Recently, strange activity from the vtuber’s alleged past life (Yui Shirogane) left fans wondering whether she would leave the agency.  Shirogane’s Twitter account became active after a long hiatus, and she hints at a potential graduation from her vtuber persona.

What was Finana Ryugu’s past life?

Nijisanji’s Finana allegedly streamed under the name Yui Shirogane before she joined the agency.

There is little information about Yui Shirogane and almost all evidence connecting her to Nijisanji has been erased. She disappeared in 2022 after she joined Nijisanji and reportedly became Finana Ryugu.  This is a common practice among vtubers, who wish to maintain their privacy after being hired by popular agencies.  A deleted tweet allegedly showed Shirogane Yui announcing a hiatus in preparation for Nijisanji auditions.

Curiously,  she returned on X on November 24, 2024, with a few vague tweets. Although Shirogane has never openly admitted to being Finana, most fans consider it an “open secret.” Even Shirogane’s bio, stating “If u know, u know”  on Twitter hints at the connection.  Should Shirogane abandon the Finana persona,  she will rely heavily on her fans to support her in her new journey. This is similar to when former Nijisanji talent Selen Tatsuki returned to her Dokibird persona earlier in 2024

Yui Shirogane has recently started tweeting on her X account after two years. A recent tweet was captioned “Maybe I’ll use this account again.”  By itself, a vtuber returning to an old account doesn’t necessarily mean graduation. Many active vtubers in agencies still have alternate accounts separate from their vtuber careers.

That hasn’t stopped fans from speculating about graduation, especially given Nijisanji’s history with disgruntled former talents. Her reported absence from Nijifes 2025 left fans even more concerned. Neither Nijisanji nor Finana have formally commented on the issue.
