Within the world of Counter-Strike, there’s one thing that matters the most to a CS2 player – their in-game CS2 ranks. Since the popularisation of esports and competitive video games, ranking in games has become common. These ranks help players to understand their current standing in the game, as well as how their skill level compares to the higher-ups. Within CS2, there are multiple types of ranks players can receive based on their skill. Let’s check out all the CS2 ranks in 2025!
Although there’s some nuance to CS2 ranks, the gist of it is: the higher the rank, the better the player (provided they’re not using cheats).
The perfect way for players to increase their rank in CS2 is by winning as many matches as possible. As CS2 is a 5v5 shooter, one could be the best player in the game but have bad teammates, resulting in them losing the match.
Within CS2, there are two primary versions of ranks. The first is the competitive ladder in the game, while the second is the Premier game mode. While both might seem similar, they’re actually quite different from one another.

The Competitive game mode has 18 ranks. Just like the ranks in CSGO, CS2 ranks begin from Silver 1 all the way to Global Elite. Global Elite is the highest rank a player can achieve on a given map in CS2. Below is a list of all 18 CS2 ranks in order:
For players to increase their rank within the game, they will need to win multiple matches on a given map. At the same time, the stats that are taken into consideration for a player are as follows:
Nowadays, the rank with the highest number of players is the Gold Nova III. At the same time, the Global Elite consists of just 0.75% of the total number of players that play on the competitive ladder. It must be stated that within the CS Competitive game mode, your rank varies for each map. Thus, there is a high probability for a player to have different ranks on each map.
This might also showcase the comfort level of a player on a given map compared to others within the game. This adds another layer of help in determining whether a particular player suits your party in play.
Premier, in the eyes of many, is more focused on the esports side of the game. Within Premier CS2, players are given a ranking based on their skill within the game. These ratings for players start from 1000 and go all the way to over 20,000. This is quite similar to the ranking system seen on the ladder for games like Chess. Based on a player’s rating, there is also a colour code for that rating.
To secure a higher rating player within CS2 Premier, players must focus on playing better and winning as many games as possible.
Below is a comprehensive look at all the Ratings within CS2 Premier mode and the colour associated with them:
| 1,000 to 6,768 | Gray |
| 6,769 to 11,178 | Light Blue |
| 11,179 to 14,588 | Dark Blue |
| 14,589 to 18,156 | Light Purple |
| 18,157 to 20,000 | Purple |
| 20,000+ | Dark Purple |
Here’s also a list of all CS2 Premier ratings and their corresponding rank in the Competitive game mode:
| 4,999< | Silver 1 |
| 5,000 to 9,000 | Silver 1 to Silver Elite Master |
| 10,000 to 14,999 | Gold Nova 1 to Gold Nova Master |
| 15,000 to 19,999 | Master Guardian to Master Guardian Elite |
| 20,000 to 24,999 | Distinguished Master Guardian to Legendary Eagle Master |
| 25,000 to 29,999 | Supreme Master First Class |
| 30,000 and above | The Global Elite |
Currently within CS2, according to the website CSstats.gg, there are over 280 players who have a CS2 Premier ranking of 30,000 or higher in 2025.

This isn’t an official ranking system within CS2, but the CS2 community widely accepts it. Faceit is a third-party gaming client that helps players face off against some of the best players in their rank. While Premier doesn’t have the best anti-cheat system, FACEIT does.
Due to this, many players within the CS2 ecosystem prefer to play on it. There is a lower chance of players playing against a cheater on FACEIT than on the Premier gamemode. Another point that gives FACEIT the reputation it has is that a majority of the best CS2 players prefer to play on it.
In 2025, FACEIT has a 10-level ranking system. All players start their ranking on FACEIT at level 3. If they win, they gain a certain amount of ELO points. Based on the ELO points a player has, they are placed within a certain level. Below is a list of all levels and their associated ELO:
It is worth noting that the players in the top CS2 teams are all currently at Level 10 in FACEIT. Most players have an ELO that is higher than 2000 as well. This proves just how tough the competition within the FACEIT client truly is.
