Although the StarLadder Budapest Major is already behind us, the Counter-Strike action this year is not over yet, with the eXTREMESLAND Asia Open 2025 set to take place shortly.
The Shanghai event will be the perfect opportunity for teams to get more reps in before the next season, as well as a great occasion to get into CS2 betting. Here’s our eXTREMESLAND 2025 preview.
eXTREMSLAND 2025 will take place in Shanghai, China, from December 18th to 21st.
The group stage portion of the event will take up the first two days of competition, while the playoffs will commence on the weekend.
Four quarter-finals will be played on Saturday, with the semis preceding the Grand final on Sunday.
To begin the tournament, the 12 teams in attendance are split into four three-team groups, where each team faces off against the other two squads. The group stage matches will be played in a best-of-one format.
Two teams from each group advance into the playoffs, where they’ll battle it out in a single-elimination bracket. For the remainder of the competition, all games will be played in the BO3 format, including the Grand Final.
Considering BO3s are much more predictable than BO1s, the playoffs might be the best time to use some of the esports betting bonuses.
The winner of the event will take home $70,000 – almost 50% of the total $150,000 prize pool. There will be no third-place decider match.

There are 12 teams in attendance at the eXTREMSLAND 2025 Asia Open, all of them from the Asia and Oceania region. The most recognizable names include Lynn Vision, Rare Atom, and Rooster.
Here’s the full list of the teams at eXTREMSLAND 2025:
As we all know, the Asian scene has grown tremendously over the past few years, and the competition is quite fierce nowadays. However, the top dogs of the region, The MongolZ, FlyQuest, or even TYLOO, will not be in attendance.
This leaves the field more open for other teams to take home the eXTREMESLAND 2025 Asia Open trophy. That being said, Lynn Vision and Rare Atom are the two teams most favored by CS2 odds to win the tournament.
Both Lynn Vision and Rare Atom had very disappointing showings at the StarLadder Budapest Major, where they bombed out last with a 0-3 record. An event like this could be just what they need to regain their confidence and reset ahead of 2026.
Make sure to tune into the CS2 action over the next couple of days. It’s bound to be an exciting four days, as it always is with Asian CS on the menu.
