CottontailVA’s ASMR YouTube channel was deleted by YouTube, prompting the vtuber to question the ban.
The Canadian independent vtuber CottontailVA has been in the industry since 2020. She regularly streams on Twitch, TikTok, and YouTube. The vtuber mainly does chatting streams with IRL and general content. She is also famous for her Whisper Wednesdays where fans enjoy her ASMR content.
While fans enjoy her ASMR content, it may have gotten her in trouble with YouTube. On December 19, 2024, CottontailVA tweeted that her ASMR YouTube channel had been banned and fans wondered why and whether the channel would be reinstated.
CottontailVA claimed that YouTube removed a single video from her ASMR channel and then surprisingly banned her channel.
In a tweet, CottontailVA stated that a recent ASMR video was taken down from her YouTube channel. In addition, after her video was removed CottontailVA claimed that her ASMR YouTube channel was banned without any warning.
The vtuber included a screenshot of the email YouTube sent her and the reason for the channel removal was repeated offenses of sexual content and nudity. While CottontailVA does have a history of NSFW voice acting credits, none of this content was posted on her YouTube ASMR channel.
CottontailVA claimed that the video didn’t break any rules and didn’t contain nudity. She stated that she hoped her channel was mistakenly removed as it didn’t deserve to be removed from YouTube. She requested YouTube to fix the issue publicly and reinstate her ASMR channel, and she did get an official response. Unfortunately for her, it did not resolve the situation.

TeamYouTube replied to the streamer’s tweet and asked her to appeal the ban if he thought it was unjust. Fans replied to TeamYouTube and claimed AI randomly bans certain channels. While these claims are unconfirmed, automated bans are a well-known feature of YouTube’s moderation system.
What’s more, when the creators appeal the ban, they allegedly get AI-generated replies. These incidents led to claims of multiple channels remaining banned without cause. It is unclear if YouTube will reinstate CottontailVA’s ASMR channel.
Moreover, this isn’t the first time a popular vtuber has faced issues with their YouTube channel getting banned. The massively popular VShojo demon queen Ironmouse faced issues with YouTube banning her VODs channel, as well as her main channel. Ironmouse managed to get both channels reinstated but everyone might not be as lucky as her.
