PGL Bucharest 2025 is off to a hot start, but nothing left betting sites reeling like Complexity Gaming’s upset win over Team Falcons; can it continue the momentum against Furia, though?
The first round of any major Counter-Strike tournament has some wild mismatches. Complexity Gaming against Team Falcons wasn’t the biggest, but moneylines on a Complexity Gaming win were still over 5.0. Any sort of win would’ve been a surprise, but a quick 2-0 victory for Complexity? That was basically inconceivable.
That’s what happened, though. Now the big question is whether Complexity Gaming is poised to break out, or if this was just a Falcons fumble brought on by impending roster changes?
Furia Esports and Complexity Gaming will face off in a best-of-three match on April 7, 2025 as part of the PGL Bucharest 2025 group stage. Both teams have a 1-0 record in the group stage thus far. Teams that win three of five matches advance to the tournament’s playoffs while those who lose three games are eliminated.
Though Furia remains one of Brazil’s most recognizable and popular teams, 2025 isn’t looking like a good year for the team. The squad endured early eliminations from IEM Katowice, ESL Pro League Season 21, and BLAST Open Spring. PGL Bucharest is off to a decent start though, as it took a swift win over Apogee Esports.
The Furia Esports roster includes these five players:
The only map Furia is particularly good on is Dust 2. Over the last six months, Furia has won 13 of 19 games played there. Everywhere else, Furia is hovering around or below a 50% winrate.
Complexity hasn’t had a particularly good start to 2025, either, with its only win on LAN coming over Imperial Fe. In online events it’s on a tear. The team went undefeated in the qualifiers for PGL Bucharest and YaLLa Compass Qatar 2025. That seems to have lifted Complexity’s spirits and may foretell some improvement from the team.
Complexity is using this roster for PGL Bucharest, which has been together since January:
Complexity has been actively looking to take matches to Train, and it’s been successful with that approach with a 6-2 record in 2025. It’s even better on Anubis, going 7-2 so far. It’s also 3-0 on Nuke, albeit against lower-ranked NA teams. It isn’t all sunshine and rainbows for Complexity though, as the team is at 50% on Ancient and has been struggling of late on Inferno and Dust 2.
This is Furia Esports’ first match against Complexity Gaming in a long while. Despite both competing in the Americas region and playing in the same tournaments on several occasions, they haven’t faced off since YaLLa Compass in June 2024. Both teams have the same cores to their rosters, though.
Furia Esports is a solid favorite against Complexity Gaming for this PGL Bucharest matchup. The moneylines are 1.57 against 2.37. Bookies aren’t completely discounting Complexity’s chances here, but they definitely believe Furia has a better chance of winning.
Furia Esports should be able to defeat Complexity in PGL Bucharest’s group stage. Beating Falcons is a big deal for Complexity and it’s the biggest win either of these teams has gotten in 2025. Until Complexity starts stringing together these kinds of performances, it should be viewed as an anomaly.
