Cloud9 vs FURIA odds and predictions: Americas Cup finals

Americas Cup Finals preview: Furia vs Cloud9

Contrary to all expectations, the grand finals of the Americas Cup will not be just an LCS rematch. After FURIA sent both North American teams to the lower bracket, we have Cloud9 vs FURIA in the Americas Cup grand finals.

The first encounter between these two teams was a wash as FURIA stomped Cloud9 2-0. Can they repeat this feat, or will C9 get their revenge?

Cloud9 vs FURIA match overview

  • Stage: Playoffs, grand finals
  • Game: League of Legends

Betting tip: The betting odds for this match are very volatile. However, the result should be clear. FURIA has proven to be better than both NA teams at this tournament, and Cloud9’s form is not improving. The most likely outcome is a 3-1 for FUR.

Cloud9 vs FURIA team & match analysis

Now that the idea that North America is far stronger than Brazil is out of the window, we can compare the teams on even footing. The current forms paint a clear picture. When FURIA met C9 during the first day of the tournament, the LCS representatives were entirely lost. FUR was leading the flow the entire match through and C9 had no idea how to answer.

Then, FUR went on to also take down Sentinels. While the games felt less one-sided than against Cloud9, they won 3-0. Meanwhile, in the lower bracket, C9 started off by beating RED Canids. A win is a win, but a 3-2 in which they almost lost a third game was not what North America wanted.

In the second round, C9 faced Sentinels. Just like in the LCS, C9 won 3-1. However, these games were not pretty. The match was a comedy of errors from both sides. Players getting caught, mechanical misplays, uncoordinated decisions, macro flaws in general – Cloud9 didn’t lose more so than won.

The conclusion from this series is that C9 cannot utilize a lead the way a major region’s team should. Sentinels gifted them game 1 and they struggled to win it. Game 3 was an even worse story, as the C9 players kept dying in random ways, making them almost unable to close out a game that started with a massive lead. Lastly, game 4 was Sentinels stealing their lead then giving it back.

In other words, C9 looks lost with a lead and won’t safely secure a win from a good position. Against FURIA, they didn’t even reach the part of having a lead.

Cloud9 vs FURIA betting picks and predictions

FURIA ran circles around Cloud9 the first time they met. At the time, one question remained: was this due to C9’s jet lag and mental toll from the LCS loss? Since then though, FUR has only looked better while C9 hasn’t been any less shaky. FURIA will likely win.
