North American Valorant player Daniel “Rossy” Abedrabbo has been released from Cloud9, leaving fans wondering what happened.
While Cloud9 hasn’t been at its peak recently, the team is known for housing some powerhouse players in its roster. Rossy is one of the Cloud9 players who has consistently performed well, especially compared to other C9 members. Unfortunately, the alleged Cloud9 “curse” that has destroyed the careers of several former C9 members may have struck again.
On November 3, 2024, Rossy shocked fans by announcing in a tweet that he’s been released from Cloud9. The pro player is now a free agent and is looking for a new team. Some fans assumed the player was joking, but that perspective changed when Cloud9 made an official announcement.
In the official statement, Cloud9 announced Rossy’s departure from the Valorant team and said the player’s chemistry didn’t mesh with the other members. Cloud 9 announced on X that Rossy is no longer part of the Valorant team, effective immediately. The tweet stated the player was departing because of differences between him and the team.
Cloud9 states that Rossy’s playstyle conflicted with the rest of the team. The organization elaborated that this decision was made after the coaches and team informed management of the issues they faced with Rossy. The team and coaches decided unanimously that they couldn’t play with Rossy. Though the organization praised Rossy’s skills, he wasn’t the right fit for the Cloud9 Valorant team, and wished him the best for future endeavors.
Following Rossy’s departure from the Cloud9 Valorant team, Mitchell “mitch” Semago returned as the in-game leader. In the tweet, Cloud9 states the team feels mitch’s leadership style aligned better with the team and its long-term performance.
In a follow-up tweet, Rossy confirmed it was the team’s decision to release him from his contract.
Rossy tweeted that he has no hard feelings towards anyone from Cloud9. The American players stated that the team decided they didn’t want him to continue playing with them. He was grateful for the opportunity to play for the team.
Rossy also said he’s in a lurch since he can’t compete without a team but will continue streaming. He requests fans to continue supporting him until another team signs him. The Valorant player thanked everyone for their support and requested they not spread hatred about Cloud9.
