


Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has won a record nine awards at The Game Awards 2025, including the top prize of Game of the Year.
After a record 13 nominations across 11 categories, Expedition 33 took home the award in all but two fields.
The huge number of awards and victories makes Sandfall Interactive’s debut game one of the most celebrated titles in the history of the Game Awards.

The twelfth edition of the Game Awards, hosted by Geoff Keighley, had seen Expedition 33 nominated 13 times in 11 categories, every category it was eligible for.
In the end Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 missed out on just two awards: The fan-voted Players’ Voice award which saw Wuthering Waves pick up the win, and Best Audio Design, which was won by Battlefield 6. Two nominees, Charlie Cox, and Ben Starr, also lost out against fellow Expedition 33 cast member Jennifer English, in the Best Performance category.

Both Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and publisher Kepler Interactive now hold the record for nine awards won – the most in Game Awards history.
Following the multiple victories, Sandfall Interactive staff took the time to announce a new free update to the game, aptly titled the Thank You Update, which will include new content, new features, new bosses and more. It’s available now on Steam, Epic Games, and Game Pass.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 released on April 24, 2025, and quickly became one of the most talked about games in the world. Its mix of narrative depth with throwback JRPG-style combat, and earnest dedication to its story captured the imagination of gamers. Now it’s been rewarded with an unprecedented level of recognition.
