Multiple Twitch vtubers are banned from the streaming platform for dubious reasons, and Twitch CEO Daniel Clancy has finally responded to the situation.
Many vtubers stream their content predominantly on the streaming platform Twitch. However, the streaming giant has recently been causing issues for vtubers. Many virtual streamers have been banned from the platform, putting their channels and careers in jeopardy. Many have accused Twitch of singling out vtubers and banning them unfairly. Now, multiple vtubers have faced Twitch bans for the same reason. and there is huge backlash from the vtuber community.
After much outcry on social media, Twitch’s CEO has responded to the situation.
Daniel Clancy, the CEO of Twitch, has replied on social media to accusations of discrimination against vtubers.
Vtuber Lidia Nekozawa tweeted on X about the massive Twitch bans vtubers faced due to allegedly “using stolen payment information to buy Twitch Bits.” The streamer compiled all the Twitch bans affecting vtubers in the thread, which caught the attention of the Twitch CEO.
Clancy replied to Lidia’s tweet and stated that he has noted the issue and is looking into it. Time will tell how the Twitch CEO remedies the issue with vtubers. The response from the community has generally been positive, as vtubers and their fans appreciate the extra eyes on the issue.
Multiple vtubers have claimed that Twitch is banning their channels unfairly, and the most recent mass bans are related to Twitch Bits.
Twitch has banned multiple vtubers for various reasons or no reason at all. This mass banning has sparked an outcry among the vtuber community. Many of the vtubers and fans are accusing Twitch of discrimination against the vtuber community.
Popular vtuber Bao The Whale even alleged that other offending streamers are only given a slap on the wrist with 30-day suspensions. However, vtubers with a smaller offense or even no offense are immediately banned from the platform.
Lucius Merryweather even went as fast as to suggest that Twitch vtubers also make or post content on YouTube. The dog boy vtuber also claims that Twitch’s punishments against vtubers are particularly severe and have only been getting harsher.
This shows how fast the vtuber community is losing their faith in Twitch. This is a huge deal since many vtubers are dependent on Twitch and only use other platforms sparsely. If the site doesn’t change things up, vtubers may begin migrating to another streaming platform like YouTube or Kick. It’s now up to Twitch’s CEO to figure out if vtubers really are being mistreated.
