In a thrilling game, G2 Esports defeated T1 in the opening match of the MSI 2022 Rumble stage. The game brought us everything from macro excellence to mid-game fiesta and many moments that brought us near the edge of our seats.
Despite an early gold lead from T1, G2 stabilized throughout the mid-game, and their heavy team fighting composition brought hell on the Korean champions. Fortunately for the fans, we still have at least one game of G2 vs. T1 coming up throughout MSI, and I can assure you that it will be a banger.
G2 Esports have now won 21 games in a row, and it seems that nobody can stop them. Following the triumph, caPs was interviewed by Laure Valée, and he shared his thoughts on the match as well as meeting Faker once again:

G2 stay undefeated here in Busan. Caps, that was an amazing game, a difficult one for sure. I want to talk a bit about the composition you chose. Very teamfight-oriented. Tell me about your choices and why did you think it was the play against T1?
caPs
We hit them with the EU meta (laughs). A lot of the picks they didn’t see much in Korea. They like a lot of stronger lanes and split pushing. We went full-on 5v5 brawl, and a lot of the picks were very common in EU but not so common in Korea, so we kind of caught them off guard.
Laure Valée
Given how things were in the early game, you had to find the right opportunities. T1 was gaining advantages – not true kills but map pressure. How hard was it for you to find the right opportunities to take them down in fights?
caPs
Early game was for sure hard for us. They like picking strong lanes, and they have a lot of tools to get ahead through either towers or plates. As long as we can stabilize the game somewhat and we would not fall too far behind, we would be pretty good in the teamfights and eventually, they would have to 5v5 us.
All it took was one good fight and we were back in the game. Thank you riot, of course for the bounties and as always, we are just trying to stay calm and collected.

One of the most anticipated matchups here was you vs Faker. You are now 9-3 vs against him, how was it facing him again?
caPs
It feels good, it’s been a lot of years since we played. Obviously, we didn’t do as well last year but going up against him now is just amazing to see him. They are so well even now.
After I saw him in Season 3 Worlds, winning the trophy, he was a big inspiration as to why I wanted to become good in League. Playing against him now 9 years later is kind of crazy and I am just happy that we got the first game against him and hopefully, we can keep it up.

A couple of words on being still undefeated since the LEC playoffs, how does it feel?
caPs
Feels weird. We don’t feel like being undefeated since we play so many scrims and solo queue and we lose a bunch of those. It feels weird to say we are undefeated, and I am sure we won’t stay undefeated this MSI, but we will look to get the trophy back nonetheless.
