Candle token now available, gives sneak peek at Dota 2 7.36

disruptor

The candle token is live in Dota 2, and the reward for the wait is a preview for the long-awaited 7.36 patch.

The candle token has been one of Dota 2’s biggest mysteries ever since the release of Crownfall. From how to get it to what it hides, fans have been speculating for a full month. However, on May 22, Valve finally spilled the beans and opened up the candle shop. The result is a rare sneak peek at an upcoming gameplay patch.

Here’s how to claim your candle token and what fans have compiled about the patch notes for Dota 2 7.36.

How to get and use the candle token

Assuming you’ve unlocked the candlemaker’s shop, simply click on it to claim the candle token. Then use it to unlock the tree trunk node.

The candle token doesn’t appear to have any other use, so players cannot spend it to finally finish up the main story. Just use it to unlock the tree and get a glimpse at the patch note. However, if fans want more than just a tiny look, the community has them covered.

Dota 2 fans piece together 7.36 patch notes

Dota 2 fans have partially assembled the sneak peek of update 7.36 through social media.

The candle token illuminates a tiny part of a giant stone tablet that appears to have patch notes for 7.36. Every player only gets a small look, but the community has banded together to combine the looks into one image.

The partially-illuminated image shows a few major changes. First, the start of daytime appears to reveal the entire map to both teams for five seconds. Attack projectiles that are close to something get slowed down, and Lifestealer will get a new permanent scaling effect. One hero, possibly Alchemist, will start with 250 extra gold while another spawns with zero skill points.

Overall, patch 7.36 will change a ton of rules in Dota 2, and the game will look very different moving forward. This makes sense, as the game has been stuck on patch 7.35 since December 2023. While the candle token preview gives some hints, players will have to wait for Dota 2 7.36 to drop tomorrow to learn the full extent of the changes.
