Many subscribers see the Fortnite crew pass as the height of exclusivity, but new survey questions indicate that its exclusive status may change.
Releasing approximately 22 skins a month, Epic Games’ Fortnite crew pass allows subscribers to get one more skin, along with other bonuses. Although typically not available to the general public, the team has released a few past crew pack skins, such as Loki Laufeyson, in recent years as part of events. A new player survey, however, could point to that exclusivity changing in non-subscribers’ favor.
Players not currently subscribed to the Fortnite crew pass should keep an eye out for previously locked skins and items for sale in the future.
Crew passes are part of Fortnite’s monthly subscription services and provide players with exclusive cosmetics, along with other benefits.
Fortnite Crew, Epic’s subscription service, began in 2020 and costs $11.99 a month, but offers several benefits that many regular players find worth the price. Each month, players can expect to receive the following goods.
Because crew packs are only available to subscribers and disappear after the month, crew skins are some of the rarest in the entire game. Yet this could change if Epic Games decides to copy the changes implemented in August for future battle passes.
Epic Games hasn’t made an official statement on whether crew packs will go on sale for everyone, but the company is asking for players’ opinions on it.
In a recent survey, Epic asked fans two questions about crew passes and availability. While available for all survey takers to answer, the developer seems poised toward current and past Fortnite crew subscription members specifically.
If it chooses to release past crew pass skins, fans could get access to almost fifty different looks. Some current Fortnite crew subscribers on X are arguing, however, that making the skins freely available removes their exclusivity, a major draw for many.
Although crew passes and pack items may eventually come to the Fortnite shop, players shouldn’t hold their breath for it being soon. Future battle pass items will be held for 18 months after the event ends, and it’s likely that any Fortnite crew pass rewards will be released in a similar fashion.
