League of Legends former pro player turned caster Marc “Caedrel” Lamon has called out the Karmine Corp fanbase after seeing plans to boo Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok.
During a recent stream, Caedrel negatively reacted to a Karmine Corp fan who claimed that thousands planned to boo Faker at an upcoming Red Bull event in Paris, France. On Twitch, he called the tweet “disgusting” and said that KC should be banned from the LEC if they act “vile” at events. After, a Karmine Corp fan saw the clip and shared it on X, calling out Caedrel for having such harsh words for the community. This clearly set Caedrel off and he replied with a huge rant where he stated he stood by his original words.
Here’s what the KC community planned for Faker and why Caedrel responded so harshly.
“I’m sick of these KC ultra fans tweeting or DMing the most disgusting things to players who leave their organization, casters who comment badly about the team, streamers who give their opinions or joke around, and even now one of the most inspirational figures in the game who is nothing but a role model to everyone else… It’s gotten to the point where people are actually afraid to be honest about KC and that’s the sad reality,” said Caedrel.
Caedrel continued that he used to be a huge fan of the Karmine Corp community and felt they deserved joining the LEC. But the extreme side of the fanbase has acted with “disgusting behavior” that Caedrel feels misrepresent the fans and disrespect the game.
“It’s getting way too out of hand, and I’m kinda done with people just avoiding the fact that it’s gotten this bad,” he said.
Karmine Corp fans have been continuously called out in the past for their behavior online and at live events. At the 2023 Red Bull League of Their Own event in Berlin, KC booed Faker when he was introduced. This left many League of Legends fans shocked by the KC community’s plans for the legendary mid player. Still, some KC fans replied to Caedrel that his response was “absurd,” noting that the tweet seemed to be a joke. This caused Caedrel to share another rant. He replied that he has become exhausted from “waking up every day to toxic and annoying tweets” about him and others in the industry.
“Whether this tweet is a joke or not is completely irrelevant. DMs or direct tweets or comments at us, it’s nothing like I’ve seen before, and it’s all started since KC joined the LEC,” Caedrel wrote. “You can enjoy ratio’ing or calling out that it’s a joke, but this is a constant daily trend and common sentiment among everyone that it’s just completely out of hand.”
Caedrel added that many in the industry feel the same as him but are too afraid to speak out.
