BNK FearX demotes ADC Diable to the LCK Challenger League for disciplinary reasons

BNK FearX demotes ADC Diable for disciplinary reasons

LCK team BNK FearX has demoted their ADC Nam “Diable” Dae-geun to their Challenger League (CL) team for disciplinary reasons. Diable will play for BNK FearX Youth, and Kim “Slayer” Jim-young will replace him on the main roster.

BFX communicated the reasons behind sending Diable down to the Challenger League. The organization said in an X post that “there have been repeated instances in which internal rules and basic commitments were not properly observed”.

As the final straw, Diable missed a scheduled fan meeting that the organization and coaching staff had been repeatedly encouraging him to attend.

BFX wishes for this to help the marksman grow as a player. The team is “continuing to review potential additional measures as necessary”.

Putting BNK FearX at risk of dropping to the Rise Group

BNK FearX currently sits at 2-6 in the LCK Rounds 1-2, in seventh place. By the end of the second round (post 18 matches), the top five teams will form the Legend Group while the bottom five will make up the Rise Group.

The Legend Group gives much better playoffs chances, with its top 4 teams immediately qualifying. On the other hand, Rise teams have to go through play-ins at best. As teams only face opponents from the same group, the Legend Group also means better practice throughout Rounds 3-4.

In the LCK Cup, Diable progressively grew to be considered one of the best marksmen in the league. At 18 years old, he was even in the discussion for being the best at the moment. Then, the team hit a wall upon facing Gen.G, and finished second place.

At First Stand, BFX looked great once again, before G2 Esports put an end to their run. Coming back to the LCK afterwards, FearX hasn’t yet managed to find their Winter form again. Currently sitting at 2-6, the team won only against bottom-placed Kiwoom DRX and DN SOOPers.

The organization stated that even though short-term performance is important, they have a responsibility of helping their players become better professionals. Slayer will play his first match with BFX on Thursday, April 30, as the team faces Dplus KIA to try to start climbing the standings.
