In the final series of the opening round at the BLAST Premier Spring elimination bracket, BIG has eliminated the final NA team in the event, Evil Geniuses. The German squad won 2-1, after initially falling behind.
It had been a disappointing day for NA fans coming into the last series. Both Complexity and Team Liquid had been eliminated earlier in the day.
EG initially kept hopes high, as they managed to win the opening map. Timothy “autimatic” Ta proved that the year competing in VALORANT hadn’t slowed him down, as the rifler topped the charts on Mirage. 16-8, And NA’s last hope was alive and kicking.
But on Dust II, a German classic, EG started to fall behind. The drop in performance was personified by Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte, as his output slowed down significantly on the map. As expected, BIG took Dust II, 16-12.
Going into Vertigo, EG’s problems continued to grow, as autimatic remained the only player to have a significant impact on the server.
BIG on the other hand, had a strong performance across the board, as all players ended the map with a positive HLTV rating.
A 16-10 victory meant that BIG will continue their tournament run, as they face Astralis tomorrow. With EG being knocked down to the Showdown, the final NA representative exits the stage.
