BetBoom Team have secured victory at PGL Wallachia Season 8, defeating Aurora Gaming 3-0 in the Grand Finals to lift the trophy.
In a flawless conclusion to an incredible performance by BetBoom at this tournament, the team stunned regional rivals Aurora in a series many predicted to be a back-and-forth affair. Instead, BetBoom put an exclamation point on their victory by securing the 3-0. Here’s how it went down.
In a tournament that has been shaken up by rogue elements like the resurgence of the Lone Druid pick, and cheesy Tinker hero selections, BetBoom capped off a consistent tournament with a statement game.
Game one, saw the team pushed to the limit by a strong Aurora team, who’d managed to stay neck and neck with BB Team for much of the tournament. After a narrow 2-1 defeat in the Upper Bracket Finals, Aurora were primed to take on BetBoom, having swept Team Falcons 2-0 in the lower bracket.

But as the game started, Aurora’s QoP and Faceless Void picks just couldn’t match up against Ilya “Kiritych” Ulyanov’s Muerta, perhaps the defining pick of the series. With a 17/3/11 scoreline, Kiritych schooled his opponents with a seemingly unkillable performance.
As game two kicked off, Aurora seemingly drafted to stop any potential Muerta pick. The Doom, Lion, even Warlock, centered around being able to kill the hero even when she was Ethereal. But in response, it was Danil “gpk” Skutin’s turn to step up. A flawless performance on Pangolier meant that Aurora’s draft was all but useless, and their Mars arena was turned into a weapon for the opposing team.
Finally, the last game highlighted both gpk and Kritych’s incredible talent. The Puck pick for gpk caused havoc for Aurora, while the Muerta once again wrecked BB Team’s opponents.
BB Team heads home $300,000 richer, and with great momentum heading into May’s events, such as DreamLeague Season 29 and BLAST Slam VII.
