Top CS2 squad BetBoom Team has left Skyesports Championship, and the CEO has revealed why.

Due to begin today, the Skyesports World Championship has opened with major problems ranging from poor organization to connection issues. BetBoom Team, one of the invited squads, was going to be a strong contender. Past results from 2024 include second place in the CCT Season 2 European Series 1 and 2. Reports of poor conditions started coming out earlier in the day, but the situation has become bad enough that the BetBoom CEO spoke up.

Though BetBoom has quit the Skyesports CS2 Championship already, the esports mogul has shed more light on why.

BetBoom Team CEO reveals reasons for Skyesports CS2 Championship exit

The BetBoom Team CEO Sevirinov exclusively shared with Jaxon that the poor working conditions were untenable for a bootcamp, let alone a championship.

In a personal conversation with our team, BetBoom Team CEO Alexander “Dyrem” Sevirinov explained that poor conditions and unfair team treatment were the primary issues.

“We are in 2024. We appreciate all the new tournament organizers joining the ecosystem, but we would like to have some kind of confidence that they’ll be able to run a tournament at a decent level. After promising the conditions, you have to keep them. We were promised a lot coming into this tournament and it turns out that we can’t even play in a comfortable environment for us. If we can’t compete at an equal level with everyone, it’s a different question. That’s why we decided to leave the tournament, because many issues with the organizers weren’t resolved. We believe fair competition won’t be possible with the conditions we are facing today,” said Dyrem.

Said problems at Skyesports included the following issues.

  • Basic wooden furniture with loose nails
  • i5 processors for all 6 BetBoom Team PCs whereas the local Indian team got i7 PCs
  • 150-200 FPS on aim_botz
  • Valorant trackers on the PCs, implying that the computers were rented from LAN cafes

Poor conditions for BetBoom at Skyesports CS2 Championship

Additionally, organizers confiscated all PCs without letting players remove personal info and kept the players from practicing. The BetBoom X account also states that they attempted to find a solution with Skyesports organizers but that none could be reached.

The BetBoom CEO and X also alleged that organizers gave teams different levels of equipment, a point corroborated by other participants. Hardware specifications can make a major difference in gameplay, and differing specifications could give some teams unfair advantages over others. Dyrem specified that BetBoom players’ PCs had Intel i5 processors while Indian team True Rippers Esports had i7 processors.

Other esports teams such as Aurora Gaming and Parivision have not shared issues to the same extreme as BetBoom. As far as the time of writing, all eleven other teams intend to stay in the Skyesports CS2 Championship. However, with tensions brewing, there’s a decent chance that BetBoom may not be the only team to leave.
