Trundle has always been a solid choice in the jungle in League of Legends. His scaling and sustain always make him a threat while also being a very tanky champion, depending on the items that you build on him. Trundle has a lot of gank pressure and, as such, he thrives in what is considered an active early-game meta for LoL. But, even though he can shift the tides in his team’s favour, there are ways to stop him. We present the 3 best Trundle counters in LoL:
Trundle players will want to fight you at all times. This is just the nature of the champion. If Trundle can get on top of you, you’re in trouble, as you will need hard CC to deal with him. You either need an ability to lock him down, or a champion who can outlive him even through his gained attack speed, lifesteal, and more when fighting in his W.
If you have a gap closer, we advise using it after he has used his pillar. He won’t be running Ghost, so he will have to rely on his pillar and Flash to get away from any danger. Unless you have a champion you are certain can beat him in the early 1v1, don’t bother engaging with him unless you absolutely have to. He is a powerful 1v1 champion in the early levels, and he will mow you down with ease if you give him the opportunity to.

Ekko is a great champion to pick in the jungle if you’re facing Trundle. Trundle likes long-winded fights where he is able to use his ultimate, whereas Ekko prefers to pop in and out of fights using his E, and he can also use his ultimate to get Trundle as weak as possible before popping back into place with his own ultimate. Where Ekko has the advantage is in the jungle clear. As a jungler, you need to ensure you’re not falling behind the pace of the game, because it’s next to impossible to regain the lead without a little bit of fortune.

Ekko has a much faster clear than Trundle, meaning he should have priority to one of the objectives, obviously dependent on how the laners are doing. As for those, because Ekko has a much faster clear, he will be able to impact the map quicker since he can wrap around to the Skuttle Crab before making his way to one of the lanes.

Nunu & Willump is one of the more niche picks in this list, but it is definitely able to hold its own against Trundle. One of the primary parts of being a jungler in LoL is clear time. You need a champion that can clear the jungle camps quickly, allowing them to get out onto the map and contest for the neutral objectives. Nunu’s clear is quick, meaning they can contest for the Grubs, Herald, and Dragons. Trundle does have a good clear time, but Nunu’s is quicker.
Nunu’s bite is also a game-changer when it comes to the smite fight against Trundle. Because he can bite (True Damage) + smite, Nunu will be able to secure the neutral objective at a much higher health than Trundle, who will have to use the standard smite damage. Nunu is also able to stop Trundle from chasing them down thanks to their snowball and or ultimate.

Master Yi is amazing at slicing through opponents’ health bars like a hot knife through butter, making him one of the best Trundle counters you can pick. This is where he has the advantage over Trundle when the two champions cross paths. Trundle relies on longer fights to eventually win out through his insane sustain and lifesteal. Master Yi, on the other hand, is not about long-winded fights; his kit fits his lore perfectly. He is an assassin who wants to get in and out and get the job done.
With his Alpha Strike ability, Master Yi can negate quite a bit of the damage that Trundle is about to put out, including his bite. This means that Yi will be able to evade damage from Trundle while slicing through his health. And to be honest, Trundle does not have the largest amount of health in the early game, so if it’s both champions at around level 6, expect Masyer Yi to win out on this one.
